85% of California's wild lands, in which 95% of these fires start, is federally owned & controlled. Federal policies for over 100 years has required all fires be extinguished as soon as possible and made it nearly impossible for state officials to mitigate fires on these lands. Federal officials, on both sides, have been playing politics and pointing fingers instead of doing their jobs. It's also not only California dealing with this. They just get much more publicity due to a larger population.

The president and a certain party's lawmakers in the US Senate and House can be blamed for "needlessly" causing lung cancer, but the federal government can say they cannot stop God from causing wildfires from lightning strikes, (as was the Yellowstone "let it burn" policy previously administered by the Dept of Interior) and the power companies? Give me proof that these fires were set by Californians. I need proof of this before I believe it. These fires are caused entirely by nature as a part of the ecosystem in California. Forest/Wildfires are essential for replacing dried up vegetation and are parts of the natural cycle in California.
