I don't know how other people interpret this song, however when I was a young girl this song used to make me cry because it reminded of the abuse my mother went through at the hands of my father. I used to feel helpless and wanted desperately to be there for her. Unfortunately due to her own brokenness she pushed me away until I could no longer endure the pain and never saw her again. She has since passed years ago, but I still love her very much, miss her and cry especially when I hear this song.

There have been many women in my life that this song fits. I know that most of us know of these women. We all know at least one. But the first woman I always think of when I hear the first chords of this song is my mother. A tiny woman. Never weighed more than 90 lbs. Gave birth to seven boys and three girls. Back in my youth, this wasn’t uncommon. I’m 67 now. She had a pacemaker put in at 36 years old. My dad beat her up numerous times. Some I remember. Worked two jobs as long as I could remember. Died at 47 years old. Been gone for over 40 years now. I still think of her almost daily. I’m sad that I wasn’t a better son so her life could have been a little easier. Find it hard sometimes to forgive myself. I know she still watches over me. I miss her. Hope she knows how much I still love her.

This song is a perfect example of why the music of our generation is timeless. I am 67 now reminiscing the days I was a teenager soon to become an adult during the 1970's. Every generation claims the fame of their music, but I will always believe our music was the very best because of the lyrics, melodies, and harmonies. Our music affects me today as it did back in the 70's. I was a child of the 60's and 70's. Both decades of music had such an impact on me and the direction I took with playing the guitar. Hopefully, future generations will realize and appreciate the music we had.

+Paul Sullivan It's no problem. My husband of 12 years has been deployed 4 times. Throughout that time I suffered as an addict. He was there to help me get through it, which I have. When you love somebody so much, you'll be with them every step of the way.

I misplaced this song in my memory for so many years. I’m glad I found it, it means a lot more than before. With much more appreciation, thanks David.

I was a tiny boy when released and remember this on the radio so vividly as one of the most beautiful songs to this day! Then in my early adulthood I learned this was one of David Foster, the master pop musician's first projects and why I always loved his music. I got to meet him a few years ago backstage at his concert David Foster & Friends II in Fort Lauderdale, my hometown, and was able to tell him how much this simple song meant to me! Its simply a classic-when you hear music like this and similarly heard today "Goodbye yellow Brick Road" by Elton from the early 70's same time frame it was made as WILDFLOWER and we realize nothing like these are made today! It was a magical time for Rock, Pop & Soul! One of the Best Songs Ever!

hookman777, what an amazing & simply awesome story, what a memory to cherish for you!! i love goodbye yellow brick road, as well. i bought the "45" of it from an 'oldies' record store when i was 17 in 1988...as a 46 year old woman, looking back i can see my love for ballads started pretty much by 14 for me, when i was old enough to feel anguish & heartache over friends and BOYS, of course, but how sad is it, i never could have imagined back then, 30+ years ago now, that my whole life i would continue to go back to these very same songs STILL because absolutely NOTHING better ever came along!! it was a truly magical time in music & i get very defensive when people sometimes refer to 70s music as "sappy" or say how awful the music was then - these comments usually come from "really cool, super masculine, hip kinda DUDES, so consider the source - hands down these are some of the best treasures we have & i don't think anything will ever compare to them or replace them, certainly nothing i have heard beyond the 1980s, AT BEST!

I was 12 years old when this song came out. I never knew the name of the song, nor who sang it. I came across this site, mentioning the song and group and I didn't know what the song was, until I listened. This song was so popular way back, and I am finally glad to know the name of it. Such a beautiful song! Hearing it again at 63.

This is and always will be a beautiful song with meaningful lyrics. It meant so much to me back in the 80’s; every time I heard it I couldn’t help but personalise it. It was as if they were singing it especially for me and my then personal & relationship issues. It gave me strength & it bolstered me. Thank you “Skylark, this is indeed an anthem.

Out of the blue, you suddenly recall a particular song that moved you and you reconnect to see if that feeling still lives on. With Wildflower, it's as if I've just heard it for the first time, ever. I'm blessed to recapture that feeling.
