Choose the right HEADTORCH / HEADLAMP with expert advice from myRaceKit running stores

It is getting dark and darker now and Steve Franklin review and tips about running in the dark with headtorch are useful , and explaining the different brands is really appreciated . Well done both .

Not many answers here, just some features that you like. You mention that you don't need bright, but believe me, when you are trail running with zero light pollution, which describes over 90% of trails I have run on and in those cases, it is imperative to have a light bright enough to see each step clearly. I want a head lamp review for the highest lumens with the longest run times. Trail running is difficult enough in the daytime with inherent dangers, why increase that with crappy lighting systems that have so many features it makes getting to the mode you really need difficult. I don't want a head lamp that I purchase for running to be used for anything else, not camping, not hiking, not nothing, I want a head lamp to run with, period, and for me, the more lumens and run time the better, I just don't want light for an hour, minimal should be 2-4 hours run time in high mode.

Steve says he personally doesn't need bright but that the less experienced/less well sighted/more technical terrain/navigation events might need brighter. We're about to do a super bright headtorch test on this channel so stay tuned for early next year's review of the best! Claire

Hi, Is there a video which talks about the pros and cons of head torch v chest torch?

I don't know about a video, but a chest torch will show shadows on the ground from roots and rocks etc. While the headlamp will flatten out the terrain. There are benefits on each one, but there's no rule against using both together.

Scouring for reviews on torches, looking for a good one that also has a hat clip mount. Petzl e+lite is a great example but no other options. I always wear a hat, night or day, any advice would be great.

Hmm that's interesting, all the clip ones I know of are not very bright, just lights to 'be seen' rather than see by. E+lite is not really bright enough... Does it work if you wear a normal headtorch over your hat?

I was looking for tips on choices of head torch as I plan to get one. But why does the video is still a 360p resolution. It's 2020 now and you could have upload 1080p at at least would be nicer if you avoid the massive size of a 4k video.
