I was one of those bazzillion runners that ran almost always at that pace that's too slow for speed and too fast for endurance. I was hit hard doing a 100k race because I didn't know how to run slow. Nowadays I do. Listening to audiobooks. Charlie Engle - Running Man, David Goggins - Can't Hurt Me. Both great biographies. And both about endurance! btw laughed hard at the snickers... :D

Increasing endurance is an interesting topic. Loads of coaches seem to be saying 'run less' or you run run further on less training miles. But for me at least, that doesn't seem to work. Yes, I can complete an ultra marathon on around 50kms a week. But it's hard. So this year I'm bulking up on training miles by quite a lot. I'm currently (trying to run) twice a day - 20kms in the morning before breakfast and 20kms in the evening. I haven't achieved a full week of it yet (it's only week 2) and I'm totally knackered already. But if I can stick with it for a few more weeks, 20kms should become my easy short run (as 10kms is now). I'm trying to build up to running 50kms per day. If I can do that, then an ultra (50-80kms) should be a lot easier. At least that's my theory. We'll find out the results of that in July when I tackle the WUU2K for the third time. and this time I'm finishing the race in daylight! ;-)

I run on my bottom step in the house, which can also be done with weighted vest etc if desired. Sometimes I go faster in spurts, sometimes I'm just chilling, I do my left leg for some reps (usually 50-100), then switch. And repeat. Whatever I feel like. Sometimes I take short breaks to bounce on my mini trampoline or dance with my dog, because I'm playing really good music that keeps me feeling great, and sometimes ECSTATIC!! So I'm actually running to the music feeling SO ECSTATIC with a big smile on my face, full of YAY energy. To do that a few times a week, makes running on actual ground so much easier. The music playing in the house, and my dog thinking it's play time every time I exercise, just makes it SO FUN. Which makes it really easy!! I like to stack the odds in my favour, even with training and exercise. Doing it in fun ways and my being aligned within, makes it, and life, totally awesome with excellent outcomes ;) :p

That's so cooool! ;-) I wish I had a dog to play with. My wife does not seem that enthused to go bouncing around the house with me. (she thinks I'm a bit mad). I'm not up to the weighted vest bit yet, but it's on the plan for later on. for now i'm just focusing on getting through one day at a time. it's hard ad grueling but I think the payoff will be big enough that all the hard work will be worth it in the end. ... And i still won't have a dog. ;-( bummer..... hehe

hehe You're right it is a lot. And I'm knackered. ;-) I'm aiming for a 200km week sometime this month and then probably dial it back a bit. My body tends to respond really well to the added stress load, as long as i don't over do it - like trying to run faster as well as longer at the same time. So far, apart from being tired and a bit sore, things are going well. I'm not planning on doing this sort of distance for ever, just for a month or two to build up the endurance, and then I'll switch it out and focus on speedwork and hills and stuff. It's really interesting though to see that I can actually run this distance day after day. i never thought I'd be able to ;-)

@@littleoldmanrunning105 Haha, surprise her with a puppy! Like "here this is totally for you!!!" and shove it in her arms :') Most people can't hold a super cute puppy and NOT be completely in love with it, right away :') maybe she's calling for it from a spiritual level and doesn't yet know it intellectually, so you can just... help her out to realize and actualize it!! Haha :p Tbh do be easier on yourself physically. A thing that's almost cheating, but is really just super effective, is to visualize the end goal, and even the journey of every day's activities, being easy, completed, inspired, aligned, great outcomes, excelling, your feeling great and energized etc etc - literally adding to the visualization, whatever you feel to, and is best ever. Do this when you are in a naturally relaxed state, and optimally when you are naturally feeling quite good. If you feel pretty good or just neutral (so, not terrible :p ) before you do anything else as soon as you wake up, that would be a very good time to do that. About this, and your day in general, and work into better and better feeling states as you imagine the things. What this does is it works on your subconscious mind, and brings it about more easily, kinda like preparing and prepaving, but it also is like making an order to the universe, so you can then receive it. It sets you up to be able to accomplish things much more easily, as you'll be aligned with it on a deeper level, instead of totally going against the grain with thoughts of it being hard, etc. Also whatever will be most helpful, may come in, where as it may not otherwise, if there is just the belief of this is hard, but I gotta do it, etc. New things may come to mind, you may feel to do things at a different time, whatever, that may leverage you just that little bit more. Even you may just be that much more aligned in mood and extra Inspired, and it just make it easier and better in general. If you know about visualization and how it can create / allow things in life to be as such kuz we are all comprised of energy and so is everything else - it helps and you can REALLY have fun with that, drawing specific things into your experience intentionally. It's something I really love doing, it's just the best ever, when done consciously. - otherwise we are just doing it by default with our default beliefs and expectations and getting THOSE likened results. I decided to take various areas of my life, or subjects, look at how i was thinking about them, and totally change it to the opposite just for the fun of it - and yep, the new things started being!! (Including!! MY receiving a puppy, when the person I live with FOR SURE DIDNT WANT ONE ;) ) - it was even offered TO THEM, and accepted!! Haha. And I'm like, ohh YAY, my puppy!!) Things like this always make me laugh ;) Kuz I literally just decide upon the things, imagine it, feel the yay, and then go about my day, and it all flows in for me regardless of what it seemed like was possible or likely. - It's best to be light about the things and just have fun with it, Kuz the more EASY we are about stuff, the more easily it can come in / happen ;) I realized I was doing it accidentally for years, looking back, as I just imagine things a lot Kuz I like to, and always it was AWESOME things that had me then feeling awesome.... And stuff always just happened for me. Now that I know about quantum physics etc consciously, I get to select decided upon things consciously, and experience those specific outcomes. Maybe see how long it takes for you to receive that puppy and everyone be happy about it :p , regardless of what seemed to be the case? Haha. A game I like to play that helps me is, to consider all the things I personally believed, and then changed my mind about. Like for sure I don't want to eat a certain thing, like when I go to the cinema and I know there will be snacks and I like to eat a certain diet. This just makes sense to me at the time!! And then the person I'm with offers me some ..... And there I go, stuffing it into my face LOL. So if THAT can happen, any other thing can shift and to my liking, etc ;) Truly, we only experience that which we do, including ppls things they say to us, as feedback of where we are within, in our current beliefs, feeling states, thinking habits, expectations etc in THAT moment. I know I've shifted without meaning to, and a person that said one thing, was then saying the total opposite and I'm like wtf?? WHAT IS THE REAL THING??!! ... - and then learned why really. It's so funny, that it's in a way, really all about us :') Start with the easy stuff tho, what you may feel naturally inspired towards, and just have fun with it. The easier we are in our energy within, the easier the things flow/be. The more resistance we create by thinking against a thing and feeling negative, the harder a thing may be to flow it. You can look at things and how they've been going and maybe make some correlations. For me, I lift weights, and then came to have a significant other. His view coming in was that weights and bench press etc is bad for you and he was fully against it. But I'm in love with it. So I did it and disregarded what his opinion was. And then HE eventually one day said HE wanted to buy weights and train!! Haha. I always wanted to train with my significant other, have that kind of relationship, and loved thinking of it - not even including him in that!! It just be'd as I loved the idea of it :3 - obvs my newly in relationship with him and previously having no one around me who likes to be active and healthy, was me aligned with it to whatever degree, and it just kept lining up better, as I held that idea I loved so much ;) It doesn't take long of shifting within, or, holding space and feeling good about the things intended, and them then happening so easily!!! and naturally, for it to feel like "OHMYGOD THIS IS SO MAGICAL!! LIFE IS SO MAGICAL!!!" - and also, "WHEEEEEE!!!" Hahahaha :')

I so love this!! Personally, i run on my bottom step in the house, which can also be done with weighted vest etc if desired. Sometimes I go faster in spurts, sometimes I'm just chilling, I do my left leg for some reps (usually 50-100), then switch. And repeat. Whatever I feel like. I like to stack the odds in my favour, even with training and exercise. Doing it in fun ways and my being aligned within, makes it, and life, totally awesome with excellent outcomes ;) :p Alignment is so Important. It can make the difference between a thing being easy and great, vs the same thing hard and not enjoyable. Learning to shift within at will, mastering that, can help in training, and all of life, in ways that seem/ARE totally magical ;) Doing things like yoga, and Earthing, as well as natural eating and thinking (in ways that are most conducive to thriving), all help create a foundation to be able to excel way more easily and awesomely :) cutting on required recovery bkuz in ways, you will be pretty sorted already. And then obvs optimal recovery is also so magical!!! A thing that helped me the most though, was being okay with what I was able to do in a day/session, and honouring that. Listening to our selves on various levels doesn't mean we aren't progressing. Now I just go with it, listen to my intuition, and the aim is to feel great and have fun, just love what I'm doing. Decidedly progressing regardless of what it may seem. And I do. :D and get to love every second of it. I noticed that the more we get out of the way with our mind, and shoulds, it can be SO much easier to excel. Haha. :') I just do the things and let that happen. Life, same. :p
