You touched on a lot in this video but I'd say some simple tips are to use the DnD alignment chart to figure out a personality for the char, lawful/neutral/chaotic and good/neutral/evil. Think of some strengths of the character, but try to include a flaw too. The flaws can also be limitations to add challenge, like maybe if you're a wood elf, you can only eat meat. Maybe you're a proud Nord who dislikes any elf he comes across. Also deities are great to align with and imagine how they'd interact with the char, for better or worse, and most of the major ones have quests and content related to them. Whatever background you make, it should connect to your goals in that playthrough. Also TES lore is so big you can make up almost whatever head canon you like to explain your char really.

This is not ill spirited criticism of you or your comment, but rather just a different opinion. Gary Gygax was probably a control freak. Restrictive classes and his extremely simplistic 2 dimensional/3 degree alignments limited character depth rather than encouraged it. I posit that Steve Jackson created a much better RPG system (GURPS) that, like Champions before it, allowed one to create and tweak your own skills, powers, spells, gear, advantages and disadvantages. D&D may have improved since then but I haven't seen it since I broke up with it in '86.🕺😝

Something I always recommend is to use the Journal mod (you open it with the HOME key) that Wildlander has, it is a good way to help you steer your character story by writing the thoughts and/or things it will do or has done.

​@@joecasper03 I asked it to create a backstory for a Redguard character with an interest in magic, treasure hunting, and improving his situation by any means necessary. It churned our a crazy detailed backstory that I really loved. But it gets even better - because from that point on you can ask it questions about how the character would behave in certain situations what decisions they would make in certain quests if you're ever feeling indecisive or like you're not being as true to the character as you want to be

YES! My coward bard was sadly killed by an Ebony Vamp, hopefully his companions were able to escape. May the Gods watch over them. Currently, I'm roleplaying Game of Thrones Au Character who ended up in Tamriel and now must find a way back to Westeros... if only she can stop the end of the world first. I plan to end it after MQ and Dragonborn... if it all goes well I might just write the return to Westeros as a fanfic later on.

What i've thought of my character is he is similar to the me in real life ( In personality at least). A Dunmer who was a nobody, a beggar, and one day received help from a stranger, and then that stranger said he should become an adventurer, or go to the college of winterhold, as he witnessed him using a flame spell to light his own fire to warm himself. And that's why my character is a kind person generally, but he isn't afraid to stand up for himself at all. Kind of like me in real life, but a completely different story haha
