Fantastic video as always. Love your show. I went to the Avalon marshes last week after seeing your video on water voles and what a place. Had a fantastic time and wouldn't have thought of going if it wasn't for your show. So thank you so much

Gorgeous little critters... im sure I have one in the ceiling of my flat roof extension. I can hear him or them at night. As long he doesn't gnaw through the electrics, he can stay 🙂 Great job... hope the ribs and neck get better 😄👍

Smashing pay-off for being an urban garden trooper. Adore Wood mice - they tend to rule the roost at any seed cam I've ever set up. Loved it Matt, tea-time special (chicken, gravy and chips as it happens). Si.

Delightful post for Earth Day, Matt.👍 Excellent story telling, spot-on choice of playful 🐭music and volume modulation at right times. Cat cameo (pawing at hole previously “featured” as mouse exit) and feeding bowl pluses. Mouse paws special. Video a bit shaky in spots, but adds to overall effect. Proves we need not travel far to photograph wildlife - in this case though, would prefer critters stay outside😁 nibbling on insects instead of indoors muching on human scraps (or, in this case, cat chow.) Memorable stills, w/monochrome highlighting rodent’s eyes - nice touch. Good advice about best way to set up a scene w/o pre-concieved staging (although ceramic pot comes close😁). By any chance, did you prep for the shoot by using a UV black light to reveal mouse urine trails? Story coda: did your friend accept the “guests” or finally try to exterminate or otherwise “evict” them? For “wood” mice, they looked so real😁 - OK, bad pun, my bad, but couldn’t resist. Hope your sore ribs have healed by now. Cheers!

Hiya Paul! Firstly thank you for the feedback! Glad it was enjoyed overall :). There was no pre planned shot or setup. All was as you saw it. The mouse really did venture into the pot and we just encouraged it with some of the bird seed it had already broken into. No extra lighting was used either. And I am pleased to report that they are still living happily in Charlies garden :) Thanks for watching :)

So cute my wife said. As long as they are not running about in the kitchen. Claire asked how do you choose the music ,it was very appropriate.
@MattGouldphotography3 жыл бұрын
Hiya Tim! Hope you and the family are well 😊. Choosing the music is a simple case of spending an hour or so looking for music that matches the mood or animal in the footage then I just cut it together 😊

dang, now your making a common mouse look good. I can hear the conversation with your friend, "lets go wildlife shooting. Matt looks around "look a mouse" Matt convinces friend to shoot the mouse by saying "I can make this look good." Friend but its a mouse, nobody wants to see it. Matt "Hold my beer." Then Matt makes it look good. Well Done Matt. you have once again made a great video and story here, I also like the into." oh wait Good day dear people, after it started. I was laughing so hard I had to re-watch it at the start. Well done indeed.

Awwwwwww they are so, well just so, so, incontinent .... 😳 Your using a canon there and I'd be curious. You were using manual at some points but you were also using auto focus Matt. What setting did you have that set to ... one shot, AI focus or AI servo? I've been after wabbits and hares. I focus on the eye and they are still. But urghhhh how many out of focus shots does someone need. So I'm curious .... zippy little mouse ... what setting did you have. I had a field vole .... then I had a few field voles ..... then I had quite a few ..... then I had no lawn 🥰🤔😳😟🤬
@MattGouldphotography3 жыл бұрын
Hiya Adam! So, I use single point (the center one) continuous (servo) back button auto focus to focus and re-compose when taking stills through the viewfinder. But all of the footage was manual focus looking at the screen at the back (which is tricky without focus peaking to be fair but its doable). Oh no! Sorry to hear about your lawn! I hope you managed a few photos at least :D Thank you for watching!
