That stinks. Harm 4 swans, killing 2, seriously injuring the others, including half blinding one, and they didn't even get a proper slap on the wrist?! So now the brats are somewhere else, and likely to be harming more innocent creatures... Best look out, keep treating minor crimes like that and your appt to create the kind of problems many major cities in the States have created for themselves.

Seriously, multiple animals are being shot and some killed in the same area - someone needs to clamp down on it! I don't believe having the perpetrators simply "moved on" is enough. I can't fathom the types of horrible/insecure people who feel morally okay with attacking animals with anything and then just leaving them injured/dying. This is why people like WAF are so important and need as much support as possible to keep doing the wonderful work they do!
@SpeedDemonStar

It's even worse given that there's countless studies that've proven time & time again that those who abuse animals like that, inflicting pain simply for the fun of it, often end up doing the same to fellow humans, particularly anyone they befriend, date, and particularly marry. It's also been shown that early intervention is the best way to stop this behavior before they hurt someone, whether it be physical, psychological, or any other type of abuse you can think of.

I'm watching this in total disbelief and i'm lost for words. How anyone can do such a thing is beyond me. Edit: Forget the lost for words part. The size of those ball bearings is shocking! And 2 swans killed? How did those responsible get away with it? It's infuriating to say the least. I've once worked at a bike shop and we had an agreement with the local authorities. Bike thieves would work for us after punishment and we didn't let them off easy. I know they would be in the way, but if it was up to me, i'd let those swan shooters look at the surgery/misery they caused and clean up the mess for a couple of weeks. You guys are saints! Well done!

I enjoy watching the safe captures, how the animals are treated and the various housing you have for different species. The animals who are able to be released back to home territory are marvelous! People don't realise that less than 10% of the tiny island of Great Britain is urban but those areas house 83% of the population. 57 million people live in those urban areas. Put another way, one sixth of the population of the United States lives in a combined area less than one tenth of the size of Oregon. The result is urban areas are always very close to the countryside. As the urban areas inevitably expand much of the wildlife adapts as the place tries to accommodate everything. Thankfully, most British people love animals.

This may seem unimportant in the scheme of things, but in part 1, weren't both swans together? I mean, were they "mates"? And we lost one that flew away in part 1. Is this swan from part II the original one that flew away in part 1? And so, I guess, they were not ever put back together because of a separation in the timelines of when each was actually brought into the center?

It's very distressing to see how big those ball bearings are, and to find out that not only had two been hurt (one being shot twice!) that two other swans had died. Through your comment section, I saw that in England it's illegal to kill swans? Which if that is true, as I am unsure, the people either know that and knew how to get away with it, or aren't from England. I do however hope they are found, because who knows what they'll do next. I also hope that both of the injured swans can live together again where they were originally, though the one missing an eye did a familiar dance with one at the rehabilitation place which was very cute.

It's been proven time and time again that people who injure animals like this, with no intent to put them out of their misery and make use of the meat etc., more often than not end up moving from animals to humans (assuming they don't already harm both) and many end up being vicious abusers of any friends, coworkers, and particularly partners, spouses, and future children. It sickens me that knowing this, they still aren't doing something about it.

Excellent work by Maru. The only slight criticism I'd offer is that she didn't drop the pellet onto something metal with an accompanying ping - that's how they do it in the movies.

I thought Meru had left? What are the police doing if anything about these swans being shot and the two killed?

The problem is most likely not the police, but the CPS.

How do you get such a big round object to nudge itself deep into the tissues? Feathers are supposed to be great at deflecting force, was it a pneumatic weapon? The accuracy required to hit a swan in the neck would be astounding for a slingshot, wouldn’t it?

This! A slingshot is not accurate enough nor is it powerful enough for such a big ball bearing to dig in so deep, let alone multiple ball bearings. My guess was also a pneumatic weapon, which is even more worrying.

Thanks for saving this guy, further I noticed 1 thing that the bullet is in round in shape and it could slip so can you use magnet to pull it out?

Using ball bearings, shot with slingshots sounds like pure sadism. My guess is the culprits are so immature they haven't developed any kind of empathy (yet).

Well done, a great result. What sort of low life scum would do a thing like this. The fact that those responsible were not held to account, gives us a clue !!

Great work team! Hopefully the perpetrators get caught, because it will probably keep happening and probably not just to swans.

They should put up a hidden video camera to catch the one or ones who are shooting swans.

That's just terrible that they shot 4 swans and killed 2 of them, Disgusting and they got away with it. Now this swan just need their mate to get released too.

That is great news that the 2 swans made it thanks to all involved but sad at the same time because 2 died. So were the perpetrators caught but nothing was done??? Horrible if that’s true. I don’t understand why anyone would harm such a regal bird or any animal for that matter. They all deserve to live on this earth as much as we do. Why can’t they be prosecuted?? To even shoot a beautiful and peaceful bird such as a swan is beyond comprehension 😔. I just want to personally say thank you for the full effort of everyone to rescue these poor swans. They live because of all of you and your love 💕 of animals.
