Truly wonderful images, Andy! Really impressed by your professionalism and the composition, lighting and quality of the images. It's also a perfect demonstration of why professionals do not need to carry bazookas and FF camera systems anymore!

It’s not just ISO number. It’s how much camera sensor will have to compensate between 6400 iso and given lighting conditions. If you shoot dark football field on Friday night with 1/1000 SS with 6400 or 8000 iso you’ll see the camera struggles. If you expose your image to bright sky while shooting BIF, you’ll find unrecoverable shadows at iso 800!! Take it easy with your excitement. The camera is good but people should know it’s limitations..

I find that the limitations are with a photographer's imagination and negativity. That's what usually lets images down.

You are aware that the ND function is not a real filter? It takes multiple pictures, like 4x1/8 to simulate a 1/2 exposure. That's why you got the effect on the flamingo picture. Very clever though, not sure why they all don't do this, it's not rocket science, though you need a very fast sensor read-out.
@Wildmanrouse10 ай бұрын
I am aware yea but it's not something I need to say. It's the results that count bf for me as a photographer not how it works. I care not as long as it does!!!!

You certainly showed the full potential of the OM-1. Your photographs (I hate the term "captures") are so satisfying to look at. I've watched so many vids from experts whose photographs really aren't that good. Just because a picture is esxposed properly and is in focus does not make it a good photograph. All but one of yours (the lone lioness with a turd on the ground to her left) were museum quality. I'm now a new subscriber!

I only just found your channel Andy, and I am very glad I did. This is golden. This video is the last push I needed to get an OM-1. I've been on the fence all the time because of the FF talk and the so called worse performance of a smaller sensor. Your images are stunning, and they truly motivate me to get out making pictures and spending time in nature. As for lenses. What is your primary lens? I can imagine either the 150-400 mm F/4.5 or the 300 mm F/4? Thanks for this video.

I love all your images and the simple straight forward no nonsense way you describe everyone. I’m new to Olympus from Canon FF and really scared of all the noise. I use Topaz but an in depth tutorial on how to reduce noise in LR and PS from high ISO images would be great.
@Wildmanrouse Жыл бұрын
For me the noise is less than I experienced with other models. I simply reduce using Photoshop enhance and it’s great then. Nothing more complex than that as the file is pretty noise free provided it’s exposed correctly. Just try it and you will see. I do one to one sessions too which might be of interest if you check the linktree in the description below

Fabulous photos and advice! Thank you. When you say pole, do you mean monopod or tripod or some other device for shooting off the side of a boat, for example, or from a vehicle. Can you describe the process?
@Wildmanrouse Жыл бұрын
I use a monopod for that nothing more complex than that, with a trigger cable. It's very 1970's but it's reliable and it works. Best to stay old school and basic I find

Thanks, Andy. I'm going to give that a try. I'm often in a kayak and have a low view, but always want to be even lower. :-) I might just need to use my lcd more! I forget about it often. But now with bird detection, it's really possible, as you point out, to get the eye in focus without worry or fuss.

@@Wildmanrouse Andy, you might want to give the RM-WR1 Wireless Release a try. I bought one and simply love it since it works with the built in wifi, and you can still use it with a cable with other OM/Olympus cameras. I haven't had a single problem with mine -- it has a 15 ft. range.

As a nature/wildlife photographer I've been quite disappointed in the OM-1, and would not recommend it. I mostly use my EM1.2 still. I hope my comments aren't deleted because I'm not a cheerleader. I'm just a photographer who doesn't have a relationship with any company (nor do I want one).

They aren't deleted but I resent the implication that I'm a cheerleader. It's a great camera and sorry that you don't get on with it, I just say what I find and I'm just a professional photographer that uses it.
