Got one in my back garden every night lately. Think it’s a female. Its squark is very parrot like screech. Hopefully spot it soon.

I am from Denmark, and here where I live we have a lot of them, I live up to a forest. In Danish the name of the owl translates directly to nightowl :) Beautiful bird and lovely call :)

nice video interesting, thanks for sharing. we saw and heard one calling before dawn on a tree round the house. But being too dark the footage recorded show the figure but not the details altough the bird was not very far and stayed sitting sometimes but we could record the hooting quite well. We tried several times as it comes regurlarly around the same hour twice on the same tree but not enough light

I saved the life of one of these magnificent creatures in 2018 it was floundering around in a busy main road within a stone's throw of my home(not sure weather it had flown into a vehicle or vice versa)it was trying to fly but could'nt and kept landing on the road it was in serious danger of serious injury or death as vehicles on the road where going fast and would not slow down.without my intervention it would have almost certainly have been hit and run-over.I carefully picked it up and put it in the back of my vehicle uncertain as to how injured it was i then took it to a nearby vets(it was flying about in the back of my vehicle which was a postive sign)it was checked over thoughly at the vets and found to be stunned/in shock but completely uninjured it was keep there overnight as a precaution and released very close to where i'd found it the following day.the vet who released it also filmed it(i had asked her to because she said it would be best if i was'nt present when it went back into the wild)though i was off course dissapointed not to be there when it was released i understood the reason/s for this though i did watch the video with the owl taking its time to fly away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The same happened to me last nite, but I haven't tried to let it fly today. I hope the diagnosis d the same as your case. The vet probably wldnt trust you to release it, otherwise wot d b the reason not to let you see it fly away? Nice story anyway, pardon me if I m wrong...

We had to rescue one caught upon electric fencing yesterday. It was so beautiful and soft, and didn't fight against us whilst we were struggling to set it free. Once untangled it didn't move, but did open and close its eyes, we were very concerned so took advice from RSPCA and took it to a wildlife vet in a cardboard box. we have been told to ring on Monday to find out what happened. Keeping everything crossed it survived.

I had just heard an owl outside my window and had to come hunting for exactly what it was I heard... The call was identical to that of the female Tawny, but instead of two bursts, it was calling in groups of 5 or more bursts. Was it a female Tawny I heard?

I'm not familiar with your owls but most likely species is the Barred Owl which is in the same family group as the Tawny Owl (Strix)

If you find an Owl nest with eggs in it, are you allowed to take the eggs and hatch them yourself?
@plutonia005 жыл бұрын
No, that would be highly illegal and in Britain is punishable enough to be sent to prison!
