I spent 3 months filming my local family of Tawny Owls and produced this 32 min video - from two tiny owlets in the nest, we follow them through the challenges of life as they become young owls.

Wow, what an incredible video. You are so lucky to have found this family, especially as I believe tawnies are normally cavity nesters. It must have been amazing to experience this first hand. Thanks for sharing with us.

Came searching for Tawny owlet sounds as I have a camera shy pair of adults locally and last night thought I possibly heard young calling for food. What a find, wonderful film, thank you.

thank you so much for your dedication. I was captivated from start to finish and called out 'no' when you said you were finishing. I was worried about the younger bird. You showed just how vulnerable these birds are. I felt privileged to be able to see them so close in the wild.

Peter I’m just finished watching this again but this time on a giant screen with my projector. It’s absolutely outstanding from start to finish. I can’t imagine the time and sheer effort involved but it was incredibly worthwhile. I’ve learnt so much. Many once again.

Thank you so much, Peter! This helps me to understand even better the Tawny Owl family here in our Gloucestershire garden right now. The pair are currently on their fourth breeding season here. This year the usual nest site was taken over by squirrels and I feared the nesting attempt may have failed, but hearing the continual begging sound of the owlets in your wonderful video, helps me remember that I have heard that sound this year and now I know that I have heard this year's owlets!!

Thank you for making such a nice and well made documentary on these birds, i moved in to this house in June last year, and have been wondering what the dinosaur sounding noise was its took me months to find out. But tonight i went outside my front door and one of these flew over my head making the noise of what i now know is the female . I was finally able to see what it was, and look up what i seen and heard online properly . your video as helped me understand why the black birds here was alarm calling for hours on end, and now do not - i thought it was cause i moved in as its a new build house - and also your video as helped me understand why the calls was so weird back then like dinosaurs - it must have been baby tawny owls, Your video its self is amazing and i really enjoyed it many thanks for your hard work in making it

Thanks for your kind comments - some of the Little Owl and Tawny footage was shown on Love your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh but I let them have it free of charge 🤔, perhaps naively
@Karkawry1970 Жыл бұрын
@Peter Garrity Not sure about naive, but certainly testament to the quality of the footage you take, and I hope at least you got a credit! I would be rightly proud.

Thanks Steve, I used a Canon 1DX mkii at 4K, 50fps with a 500mm F4, adding 1.4 and 2.0 x Extenders as necessary.

Not just cats but people as well can be attacked by Tawny owls if you go to close to the nest
