My biggest Barra was 90 cm. on the line. The photos I took was with a measuring tape going under the body from the tail to the jaws end. I also had to let it run and run and run. It took about 15 minutes to net this fish. 30 seconds later a sharks dorsal fin came cutting through the water high speed searching for the fish. There was not the slightest disturbance of the water except for the shark's fin cutting through the surface. No sign of it's tail. I recon it was a very big shark. I just sat quietly in my 12 foot tinny until it disappeared. Sir Edward Pellow group of islands, Gulf of Carpentaria, NT.

You can always tether a keeper fish for dinner if you are worried about not having ice and not getting a feed. Keep them off either the side of the boat or in a nice shady spot on the bank where you can come back and get him later.

Dan with the net really let you down and kept saying the fish isn't ready. Forget what the fish wants, get in there with some purpose and net the dam thing. I would suggest a bigger net also, for those occasions where you really need it like in this episode. A quality net or two are worth their weight in gold.
