My guess about the mystery apple giver, is a thoughtful neighbor, I live in America in the state of Alabama, and we share things from our gardens and fruit from our trees with our neighbors who don’t have gardens or fruit trees. But no matter where you live kindness is universal.

Hello there, a new senior citizen subscriber here; immediately falling in love with your videos. Love the natural living area and gorgeous natural wood work home. You bring peace and comfort into my home; which is sometimes troubled because I loving care for my dear husband of 60 years who is suffering dementia. He was an amazing worker before his sickness hit suddenly in his late 60s. The land you bought is amazingly beautiful. We have always lived in the countryside but close enough to drive to the cities for him to do his amazing work in so many high end homes. Watching you reminds me of our early days in the beginning working with so little but loving every moment. You are very brave to live alone; that must certainly be a gift.

Dear Rosie. I live in Norway and I have a little fig tree too. I planted it against the outside of my glass house on the sheltered side and she has been living there for about 8 years now. I get about 15 figs from it a year. It hasn't grown very tall but it seems happy and manages the snow and frosts ok :)
@marinakovacevic22406 ай бұрын
Not sure what kind of figs grow in Norway, but fig's roots tend to find and grow around water pipes, so it is not good idea to have them close to your house.

Try to not put you burnable cut pieces right up onto the house, so that you avoid rodents. Close to the house, up on pallets, for easy access is a great idea. I’d try to save your birch to burn at night because it will burn much longer than most other wood. The smaller stove may not heat your whole cabin, and you’ll be feeding it way more often, including throughout the night. URGENT: You’ll need a concrete/stone/birch base for your stove, along with tile flashing beside the stove to avoid catching the house on fire. You also need to have a pipe/chimney sweep scheduled to avoid fire as well. Creosote builds up and can reach 2600 degrees. I’m not sure how often your pipe may need it. I’d research it. Just thought I’d share my experience.

Hallo ❤ I live in Norway, north of Oslo. I tried lots of different wonderful seeds that were supposed to turn into a wonderful meadow. Nothing worked. I was convinced that it was too cold in my valley. At the end of July, I sowed a last-chance meadow. I bought the seeds in Swedish Lidl. I spread the seeds using a simple grass spreading device. After a month, the first flowers appeared! The flowers are still blooming despite the frosts! Unfortunately, the flowers did not have enough time to bloom and spread the seeds, so next year I will sow the meadow again, in May/June. I paid about 50 Swedish kronor for one package of about 100 grams of seeds. It's worth it!

I learned from someone long ago, that using pieces of brown paper grocery sack work really well to burnish a rough surface of wood that has been sanded as well as you can. I have used this often for a final "sanding/burnishing" with excellent results. The wood then takes a coat of varnish, paint, stain, or a polycoat really nicely. I have also made my own buttermilk glazes using store-bought buttermilk mixed with any paint color, to give a really soft color finish on wood. This raises the grain of the wood as it dries, but then I use brown grocery bag to burnish it again.

For anyone that doesn't use power tools the fact that she is doing nearly all this woodwork with a JIG saw is mindboggling and amazing ! Using a JIG saw for millwork is like trying to draw a straight line with a crooked ruler YET somehow her cuts seem to appear, straight, her joints meet at 90 and everything seems to be flush, plumb, and level - its a skill lol. If I were her I would have asked for sponsorship from Sawstop or a European equivalent or at least buy a good battery-operated circular saw (the powered ones are not so user-friendly for what she is doing) -

A friend wants to join me, but she’s not yet been able to work out the logistics of everything on her end. Although I’m very independent, I’ve never spent so many days on the road by myself. There are things I want to see and do along the way, but I’ve been asking myself if I am brave enough to do them alone??? I may never pass this way again, so I’m trying to psych myself up in advance to be able to do them by myself. I know God is ALWAYS with me, so I’m not fearful… just uncomfortable I guess. Regardless, I marvel at what you have taken on by yourself, living so far away from town without even a car. If you can do this, surely I can be on the road without a friend for a week. Yes. That feeling to stand back and see hat you have accomplished toward an idea that originates in your mind's eye and is completed with your own hands. It is a feeling I hope everyone gets to have from time to time! Love the idea of the mystery apple gifter! I hope it stays a mystery to you!

You are such an inspiration. I am undergoing a renovation myself. I wish I had the courage and endurance to teach others as you have done. Thank you for allowing us in to your life.

If someone asks what you bring to the table you can tell them you built the table. P.S. A pro tip for when you do finish nailing on trim. Flatten the points of your finish nails. On wider trim it doesn't make much difference but on thinner pieces it'll prevent the wood from splitting. The flattened head of nail crushes it's way through the wood vs splitting it like a normal nail would. P.S. The library/workspace looks great. Well done.

I’m so impressed at your work , I make all my own house hold requirements from wood to material items , its so rewarding . I’m older now , but still do what I can . I love home renovation as well . Born in the UK but lived most of my life in SA. Yes alone it is very stressful when one battles alone. , just take a moment , breath and say that you can do it !! Well done !! Hugs Marie .

Hi Rosie, during the Fall/Winter seasons, and feeling cold try this. Mango fruit or juice add as much Cayenne pepper as your tongue can tolerate or as little at first until you get used to the cayenne pepper and a dash of salt on the mango. Eat it or drink it if it is juice and your body will feel warm or you will begin to sweat a bit. It opens up your veins and circulation will begin to flow. No more cold. You can also take cayenne with anything else if you dont like mango. Cayenne pepper is the key.
