Hey I saw you did E-Bike. I ride e-bike (turbo Levo) Would you recommend to buy a shuttle pass or just pedal e-bike up? Usually at Jarrod’s I pedal up and I noticed you all pedaled up. Did you gain Any hindsight? And is Shuttle faster than e-bike pedal up?
@AppalachainMTB5 ай бұрын
@@TurboDamsel Good choice of bike! I ride a Turbo Levo also. If you're only going to be there a couple hours - pedal pass is just fine. I'd recommend the shuttle if you're planning on doing more than 5 top to bottom runs. If you're in full boost and pedaling hard, it takes about 10 minutes bottom to top. I drain about 15% of my battery when I do this which means about 6 or 7 total runs on the mountain, unless you have a second battery or plan on waiting for a few hours for it to charge up. At Jarrod's I pedaled up twice in one of my videos and ended up getting the shuttle pass as their shuttle is so fast and I could make a lot more runs. The trails here are so nice, it's a great place to spend the whole day.

so what better wild side or ober for jumping
@AppalachainMTBАй бұрын
Wildside! Whip Or Will, Rattler, Thrillium and Dolly's Curves all have jumps. There are 2 new trails being built with MONSTER jumps 30+ ft, gaps and drops - that are currently being worked on. I talked with the trail builders a few days ago as they were scouting more potential trail locations on the mountain. In the next few months, when the new trails are opened, it's suppose to complete with the likes of Jarrod's and Kanuga jump lines.

Dude when did they open?? I 've been watching like a hawk and didnt see the update that they opened. Glad you are ok. That is first crash I've seen you take man. I didnt realize it was a pedal park though.
@AppalachainMTB5 ай бұрын
@Oper8or up until midnight Thursday of last week their website said July 29. Then magically the website allowed pass purchases for July19. Wasn't an announcement, just a tiny change on their website. I'm good, the crash was minor and just got me muddy, that's all. It's a shuttle park OR pedal. Since it was raining I wanted to see how it was to pedal to the top a few times. The shuttle is super easy to use and fast.

Thanks for another great video. I’ve been waiting to see some videos of this new bike park. What are your overall thoughts? How do you think it ranks for beginner/intermediate riders like myself? Thanks for including your climbs at the park you visit it’s nice to see everything.
@AppalachainMTB5 ай бұрын
@FloridaE-bikeAdventures - You're most welcome. This place is well thought out and ready for all in the Beginner/Intermediate space. There are a lot of side features on all the trails to level up after you're comfortable as well. This is a very flow oriented park. No true tech or gnar. The jump line is definitely a step up for those wanting to fly over big features.

Are the hills tough as far as climbing?
@AppalachainMTB5 ай бұрын
@Ridesmoothbrother what smooth ride are you riding? :) I've only ridden a full power ebike (90nm @ 580 watts) and a much less powerful ebike (40nm no clue on the watts) at this park as I wanted to video all the trails. The full power ebike makes the climb super quick and holds traction but I'm rocking 2.6 wide tires. The half power bike takes a lot more effort and because it has 2.3 wide tires I can spin out on the top 1/3rd of the climb that has more shale on it. The top part of the climb is very stout due to the angle of the trail increasing and you will feel it. If you're doing a non-ebike you'll get a solid workout. It's about 650-700 ft of vertical elevation.
@Ridesmoothbrother5 ай бұрын
@AppalachainMTB I gotcha. No getting back up to speed for me after some injuries. I don't have an eeb and may be heading that way soon was going to check em out.
@AppalachainMTB5 ай бұрын
@@Ridesmoothbrother I bought a season pass to the park as it's incredible and focused on flow. It's super fun with only the first phase being done this year. It's very worth the visit to be sure. They also have a shuttle option which originally wasn't going to be offered. It's +$20 to the park pass if you want to rock that option.

as someone who is in decent physical shape and watching this but wanting to get started this year.. what are some tips on where to learn how to do this without breaking my neck? lol Im only 30 but live near here and really want to get into this!

The biggest step is getting on a bike and going riding. Wildside has some excellent Green trails to begin on. Ober has some great trails as well plus Ober has bike patrol/trainers on staff who you can take lessons from (for a fee.) Baker Creek Preserve, Vee Hollow, Wildside and Ober all have well built beginner trails you can ride and get a feel for it. 1 - Get out and ride 2 - Always ride with personal protection a helmet at the very minimum. For this type of riding: Helmet, Gloves, chest and leg protection. 3- Get comfortable being on 2 wheels and going around or over obstacles by riding consistently. 4 - When you feel like you're ready for obstacles like jumps, Look at them first on your feet before trying them on 2 wheels 5 - You will fall, it's part of riding

@@mr.sandman4172 One thing I didn't mention is that if you don't have a bike you may consider renting a few different types of bikes to test. regular bikes at Ober. ebikes and regular bikes at Wildside. multiple types of ebikes and regular bikes at Vee Hollow. Then you can be more informed as to what you're looking for if you don't have a bike or are wondering if upgrading would be worth it. Or - I'm a huge fan of Specialized. The Bike Zoo in Knoxville is incredible. If the weather is good they do let you test ride some bikes as well.
