Astonishing! A truly wonderful wildlife spectacle. We get a few hundred passing over our Cheshire home on their way to and from the coast each day at the moment. It always makes me stop and watch. That noise!

That was wonderful! Thank you for sharing. I thought the flock of more than 300 European Starlings (invasive here in Southeastern Michigan, United States) in my gardens last week was something special, but this blew my mind! Another lovely video, thank you again. -John Stefanides

Thanks so much John. It was certainly a spectacle. I’d love to see that many starlings. They are red listed here, so a flock of that many isn’t too common these days. I used to see hundreds close to where I lived as a child. How times change. Thanks for the support. All the best. Joel.

@@deborahflello2316 That's an offer that's hard to resist, for sure! Thank you so much for your generosity, I have a place in Ambrieres Les Vallees but I've not been able to visit for well over a year now - you can see it on the channel about the village and just spot the little house adjacent to the river, with the shutters. But a visit further south would be great - and warmer no doubt! ;)

Wow! I've never seen that many together. We have geese flying over returning to the marshes but I'm not sure what kind they are. Maybe Canada geese? Love the sound of them, they even fly over at night. Spring is on the way!
@WildYourGardenWithJoelAshton2 жыл бұрын
It's a fantastic sight for sure, and sound! It's amazing how many birds we hear here in a pretty urban setting in the dead of night, lots of wildfowl flying over to the marshes and you forget it must be the most safe time for them to fly at night, avoiding predators I guess :) Spring certainly is on the way! Best wishes - Joel

That's a lot of geese😮! A wonderful spectacle indeed. I remember as a young kid growing up in France looking at thousands of swallows on powerlines outside our primary school taking flight all at the same time every year in late October. It is one of those sights (and noise) you do not forget. Have a great week, Joel.

Hello! France... one of my favourite places... two years ago I was in a small village, Fontaine-Daniel and was so pleased to see that House Martins were encouraged and allowed to nest above windows and under eaves, here in the UK I've seen CDs and other items strung up to thwart their efforts after those incredible and strenuous journeys from Africa - it was so refreshing to see, aside from the natural areas left along roadsides and gardens that were full of wildflowers and all the fauna that enjoyed them. I have a little place in Ambrieres-Les-Vallees - you can spot it with the burgundy shutters in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHmnpKNvfKxohaM Can't wait to get back and finish the renovations! Hope you're doing well - Best wishes, Joel

@@WildYourGardenWithJoelAshton Wow, small world as I was born in Tours about 2 hours S.E from where your place is. It is a gorgeous region and I still have cousins living around there. My teenage years where spent growing up on the "Cote D'Azur" between Cannes and St Tropez and migrated to Australia 40 years ago when I was 18 y.o. I had a look at your video, and is your place around the 3 minutes mark with the burgundy shutters? The villages of the Loire Valley, Normandie and Brittany are just so quaint and picturesque. Ambrieres-Les-Vallees is a nice village indeed❤. Have a great weekend!

They taste amazing! I was against shooting, but a friend invited me to dinner and served me goose. There are so many about, I didn't feel guilty. They are always so jumpy, don't stay still for long. However, it's actually 75% of the population that overwinter in the UK.

Absolutely amazing to see Joel. Just hope the farms do not spray the field with Neonics on the sugar beets. Worried for the birds if they eat the tops of them. Keep up the good work Joel 👌🏻

Thank you George :) Yes, me too, with the recent (although the Govt have made clear it's emergency use only) approval of these pesticides it is worrying, and not just for the impact it has on bees of course... Best wishes, as always - Joel
