Very nice. It's nice to get the South Pier perspective. It really lets you capture the lights on the pilot house when she gets under the bridge, then does the turn to port. Beauty video of a beauty freighter. 😍

There’s always a dilemma when recording the night videos: north pier vs. south pier. 🤔 Both have their advantages. 🙂

The Sykes' crew definitely put some time and thought into decorating their ship for Christmas. I wonder if there were some new designs being tried out when the Sykes was being constructed. Like a more streamlined style to the pilot house for example.

They definitely designed her with style in mind. I don’t think there are any streamlined pilot houses like that on lake boats before she built.

I love the lights~and what a great Christmas spirit the Captain and crew have. Such a beautiful ship, I remember last year when high winds were tossing her around after her steering failed. Wow that was a scary night. Happily this voyage was without drama, I hope!

The last 48 hours on the lakes have been pretty nasty. Fortunately almost every ship took shelter and waited it out.

I’ve been seeing ice on the webcams. That is bound to grow with temps at or below zero the next couple of days. Hopefully it doesn’t mess with the ships coming in for layup this week!

Really, very nice! I've seen my share of lakers come and go in person at Duluth over the years, along with plenty of video work. Your cinematography is top-notch. Exposure, composition, pace... this is someone that knows their craft. These videos really emphasize the grace and elegance of these hulking beasts. Do you mind sharing what photo/video equipment you are using? 😊
