My paternal grandparents came from Sweden in the early 20th century; my brother and I are 2nd gen citizens. We were raised on enough Old Country music to make a difference, although my interest is much stonger than his. This music just stirs such a Scandinavian vibe in me that I want to lose myself in it.

That "Elegy" is so damned hauntingly beautiful. The "Intermezzo" features an almost arrogant swagger to the strings in places as well as tender romanticism. As for "Karneval", I never thought I'd associate Stenhammar with a Spanish Guitar (and a mandolin, is it?)......Again, the exquisite high strings are heart-meltingly lonely but also jauntily playful (especially with the flute). And a fadeout to boot! What a gorgeous Suite!

Depuis que j ai découvert les compositeurs scandinaves, je n écoute plus,quasiment, que ceux là, ils recèlent dans leurs répertoires des mélodies enchanteresses,sûrement inspirées par leur folklore qui me remplissent de gaieté en l occurrence le 3 ème mouvement dit"karnaval"
