At the end with the recoil not retracting, seemed a bit Mr Bean 🤣

Hi, why does it take so long to start the engine ... it suggests that the fuel system and/or the carb are not 100% correct, thank you.

is the right side knob on the deck the height adjustment

Yes that's correct

I dunno if you'll see this but I just bought this mower and it has a problem with the drive it's stuck on. Any ideas will it need a rebuild?
@snazzymowers1409 Жыл бұрын
The belt may be too tight, or the tensioner is stuck on. The whole mower wont need rebuilding, but the drive system will probably need looking at.

@@snazzymowers1409 yes it's weird you have to remove engine to get the belt free. Thanks for commenting back

@@wadeholden7380 The belt can easily be removed without disturbing the engine.

Satin Black would have looked better. How was underneath ? Carb needed more cleaning. Recoil adjustment needed. Will look good when its finished.

Thanks for watching, Satin black would have probably looked better, it wasn't too bad underneath as it won't rust being alloy. The recoil was adjusted later as it was a bit sticky.

Only half a job! Is the roller drive belt, chain and bushes any good? Is there any damage on the throw plate? Is the blade balanced and sharp? Are the emulsion tubes in the carb clear? Does tge cylinder head need a decoke as briggs are notorious for burning oil, I can hear a tap from the valves, they might need an adjustment ot re seating. Are the jets stuck solid? The recoil won't retract because it needs a clean and light lubrication and the pull chord putting through the loop in the handle, it's too long as it is. And what's the state of the grass collector? The canvass usually rots if it's not dried properly. These mowers do a beautiful job, hold their value and last ages if looked after.

Thanks for watching, the recoil was adjusted after the video and retracts much better now. We also fully disassembled the carburettor off camera and cleaned the emulsion tubes. We didn't look at the drive as it was all working, but we have just recently got hold of 2 more Hayter Harriers so this time we will check the drive and rollers to make sure everything is in good condition. This mower didn't have a grass collector. Your right they provide a good cut, and I'm sure they will last a long time, especially with the aluminum deck, as rust seems to be the downfall of most mowers.

We've got a new video restoring a couple of Hayters, which is hopefully an improvement over this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5q5dauAaNqZerc
