It got down to 27F last night! It was unexpected and so I didn't cover. I woke up to my tulips being frozen! Luckily, I have experienced this before and although I was slightly worried, I had an inkling that they would pull through. In this short video, I talk about when you should be and shouldn't be concerned for your tulips if your weather dips down to the high 20s (F) and low 30s.

Zone 5b and my 4th year doing mass tulips. Last year, full huge buds 17° bent over almost touching the ground and were perfectly fine after the sun came out. They thawed out, stood up and look beautiful. I pull that same day.

Thank you for posting this content. I’ve been so worried for a week about our hard freeze coming here in NE KS. It’s been so warm here everything has come up early. Some of my tulips have just bloomed yesterday and in stages of blooming 😢. We dropped down to 19 degrees last night and still at 22 degrees. I had way too many to cover. I’m hoping after it warms up today, they all or some will bounce back.

This this was helpful. I hope all of your tulips did fine. Similar to you, I only have so much row cover :)

I am in zone 6b ~ central Kansas ~ it was 10 degrees when I got up this morning...I pulled three tulips that were just coloring up this morning ~ stems were literally frozen on two of them. They look great this afternoon....fingers crossed as it is supposed to get cold again tonight. I did not cover. Thanks for your content!!

I'm zone 3 Canada my tulips are up I haven't covered them, it's to early for them, I'm hoping not to lose them considering it was -15°C here last couple nights.

Assuming no buds, you should be total fine. The leaves are like tanks! They can handle the single temps. Even tiny buds can handle those temps ☺️
