Every phase of automation/efficiency improvement in history has led to 1. A higher demand for complementary skillsets 2. A higher induced demand for the resource that became more efficient from automation. Its called Jevon's Paradox. A British mathematician named Jevons observed a trend where efficiencies in coal powered technology (where more energy was generated using less coal) actually led to a higher demand for coal. A similar inference can be made for software engineering labor. Also, technically a compiler is a form of automation. A JVM is a form of automation. A web framework is a form of automation. All of these technologies enabled more possiblities in technology, inducing a demand for more software engineers.

AI program will not replace in next 15 yrs. It will start reducing develop need for a team. Currently you have 10 ppl you will need only 5 ppl in next 20 yrs. Prompt engineering will pickup and they will replace some of the developers.. prompt engineering will be in all discipline of the field

Sir do you think a PhD in CS is worth it in 2023 for someone who is aiming for a r&d job in MAANG type companies???? I graduated with BTECH recently and I always dreamt of becoming research scientist in IRL or MSR but can't figure out the exact or best roadmap (apart from PhD)

I demo my team how to build small app without writing a single line of code using ChatGPT using chain of thought. It was fun during the demo. I am just think about 20 to 30 yrs from now.
