Will an Excel Boat hold up to a sledge hammer?

I owned a .125, I hit a stump and a submerged log. They both left a little denting but I was very surprised how little damage there was. Will definitely be sticking with AL over fiberglass from here out. Currently weighing the Xpress X23 vs the Excel 230

But those boats have no vee and are extremely rough riding in heavy chop. Been there don’t that and don’t want to kill my back anymore. Sea Ark has a very good vee and rides so much better.

Semi v and the added hull thickness and weight smooth the ride out, maybe you are thinking an older model?

Not really a good test. Boats have stringers and ribs that re-inforce the skin. Sea Ark has dropped their .100 gauge boats from 10' with little or no damage.

Pretty obvious especially showing to boats stringer system. We are talking about the bay series and does sea ark have anything to compare

Is this hardened 5086 aluminum or 5082 your testing? Excels are made with 5082, right? Wish you would tell us that info.

It is the exact aluminum excel used to construct their boats. It was 2 scrap pieces from the factory.

@@zachtaylor34 O ok, I’m pretty sure it is the 5082. Not trying to be an a**hole, I’m just looking at boats and trying to figure out what’s what. There’s a serious difference between the two grades in terms of toughness and durability. I looked it up and Excel does have the f86 pro models made with the 5086 grade that look pretty damn sweet and unbeatable for the money.
