As far as Modi goes, one should not listen to external media propaganda. The ground reality is that he is extremely popular here in India & amongst most Indians worldwide. Of course, some of his policies might have failed, but that is only normal. In a span of 10 years, there will be some that misfire. But by and large, we are blessed to have this dynamic, bold and forward looking leader. He is a doer. He is inspirational.. He is 73 years old, and the way he interacts with 20-30 year olds, as though he's one of them. Because he thinks like them, he dreams like them. He has ushered in a wave of patriotism amongst each of us. We are proud Indians. Mera Bharat Mahaan.

I don't know why people say only BJP is non secular. If you check states like minority dominated states like Punjab, Kashmir, Nagaland, Mizoram etc, they have always voted on sectarian lines even before BJP became dominant. Historically, it is nearly impossible for a Hindu candidate to win if they are less than 50 percent in any constituency. But Hindus have voted irrespective of religion which lead to loss of political power. Indian politics historically has been based on vote bank politics.

However, when it comes to opinions from external sources, generally, those holding a more favourable view of the country are preferred by and large by everyone. Second in line are those who objectively and with reason analyse the successes and areas for improvement of a country without making it into a you vs. me affair. That is the category Uzair falls into, unlike many Pakistani commentators or leaders who claim to "know" India and then dish out nonsense about its polity and society and who without even having visited India in the last ten years seem to think India is a "Hindu" version of Zia's Pakistan. It's interesting and often funny for people in India to listen to such voices, just to get a sense of how Pakistani intellectuals think and how disconnected they are from the reality of India today - definitely not much to like there is it ;)

That’s a good one . A couple of quick corrections: 1. In South India, BJP has a huge base in Karnataka but not at all in Tamil Nadu. The Hindutva project in coastal Karnataka is several decades old but is fairly recent in Tamil Nadu. So yes, BJP will do very well in its southern citadel of Karnataka but much less in TN. 2. The GST was an idea which was in the works during the second UPA term and was finally passed (with a few changes) in NDA's first term. There was already widespread political buy in for the idea but the details took a while to work out and the strongest opposition came from state governments who feared loss of revenue. One final point - the success of both Bengaluru and Hyderabad in IT services and the tech sector has been down to the large pool of trained professionals and a real estate sector that could build and develop tech parks (while managing govt and land owners' needs). Bangalore's comparative advantage has been the much much better weather than Hyderabad but hey climate change will probably put paid to that soon.

With respect to Kejriwal case a lot of points were oversighted - First he was summoned 4 times by ED and he didnt reply to summon which is why he was arrested and not granted bail. Secondly, there is a money trail linked to him and evidence was provided by tanker agents people who store liquor and they complain that Competitive bidding has led to artificial shortage. Kejriwal also said that he will not appear before ED because ED has not provided any proof for claim.
