I know i was poopin' on Troodon the entire time... but it's actually quite good at the moment and i recommend playing it. it's venom is not weak whatsoever and can take out anything with a coordinated group.

Troodon is probably the most fun I've had in game. But it's nearly impossible to get a group going these days. The venom mechanic is pretty much worthless when you're solo. It can survive fine as a solo scavenger though. But playing it like that, just feels like playing a deranged psycho Dryo.

Tbh a lot of people don’t realize how good troodon is right now, a max group of troodons can wipe the floor with absolutely everything on the roster currently (even deino if it’s on land) they gave it a few silent buffs that made it a menace to everything, and it does more D.O.T. Plus you can’t alt attack a troodon if it’s latched on If they give troodon a Stam buff +more venom effects troodon will actually be one of the most effective carnivores in the isle if they don’t change how it is currently.

I think the problem is just hitboxes, this is and has been a big problem in the dino gaming niche across all games, basically the hitboxes for troodon and other small relatively small playables means that while its a small target to pinpoint, it can be easy to jist snatch it. Its why in legacy you could sometimes kill tacos from a mile but not be able to bite them if youre on top of them. Same here, the small hitboxes make hit detection really iffy and almost random. But like the video said its venom its just, no. Hooray after losing 2-3 members to get to maxs stage, you mow get to do a similar amount of damage as utahs bite. But anyway, its hard to not die as troodon because what hitboxes your facing completely engulf you or not see you at all so its either you jave no chance at evading or you become shortly invincible. And yes you can get alt bit off the back of stuff like cera and carno as your dismount range is litterally short enough for them to do that unless the ping is lower than 5. Thats the problem, small creatures like troodon are bad for combat less on a stat or mechanic level, and more on a spaghetti code and network issue. No amount of stat buffs will change that. Whatd be better, is for troodons NV to actually mean something. Right now as troodon you get light up like a christmas tree by NV, also your big NV doesnt matter when half the roster has the same NV that is t excessive, i dont need to see the whole map in NV as troodon as it doesnt matter, since everything else has similar NV, everything else needs worse NV for troodons to even matter. And my final thing: troodon fundementally contracts itself, at first its supposed to be an agile lithe precise little thing to build up its venom, but then when it actually counts youre supposed to ignore that and just spam pounce. This would work…if you didnt die whenever you tried that tactic. Whats the point of being precise and calculating in the first half if youre supposed to go all out in the second half with lttle to no difference mechanically speaking other than a damage buff. Id propose that, while the venom stages kick in, it drains the targets stam so when it does matter to pounce as much as possible you actually can because the targets too tired to run and alt attack. Troodons will continue to be played for a number of reason. They are quick to grow, they are noisy AF, they are fun to Troll with. Troodon will be used by the people who just enjoy being annoying rats, and for chilling with the boys. With the venom rework promised, it sounds like they are getting a buff. The thing about Dilo being bigger, is it's easier to see. It will be a lot harder for you to safely move around during the day, where as the Troodon is just grass tall.

@@halfslyced Realistically, was it ever meant as anything else? It's like the Hypsi. Something fun to fart around with when you've got some spare time, and glorious to organize a terror army when you actually want to commit. There's not really anything wrong with being a meme dino, and it probably helped them figure out the framework for more serious ones, and systems (like the Dilo). Could be worse, could've ended up with Dilo as the meme.

@@HauntingSpectre Dilo's are gonna mostly strike at night where they have the biggest advantage and it's easy to ambush something that is eating, drinking, resting, or just be hidden in the foliage but Troodon's glowing eyes can be a give away when they're hunting especially some where there isn't grass and dilo's fog can cover the glowing eyes which makes Dilo much less situational.

Honestly; Your fear about dilo overshadowing troodon is gonna be a reality if they don't add mimicry to troodon. Since the devs said they don't know how to work the mimic ability, I have already made a good idea on how it should work: Only 80-100% growth troodons will be able to mimic, same as envenomation. However; my only limitation is that you cannot mimic Apexes such as rex, (imagine 20 troodons mimicking a rex, then tell me how your ears are doing?). Anyhow; the Troodon would need to hear, get close to, or kill something in order to mimic it. To use the ability, you must press "5" on your keyboard to bring up a list of your learnt calls, click on the subject, and your calls (1-4 calls and f) will be transformed into the dino you are mimicking. One thing I'd like for the devs to add is a sort of a buffer troodon call, which would play for a few seconds before the troodon uses the mimicked call. This would allow keen players to notice if the calls are genuine or not by listening carefully and getting pretty close. From afar however; the calls will be identical to the original. I do get where the devs are coming from when they say they have no clue on how to do troodon mimicry (probably codewise) but hopefully the devs "find a way". Troodon getting mimicry would absolutely put it back on the map: the ability to get a group of troodon and lure in your food, as opposed to looking for it would be so unique. Plus, the troodon would be able to have the home advantage, luring prey into dense foliage

There is a very big difference between troodon venom, and Dilophosaurus venom, the troodons venom is meant to stiffen your body up to the point where you’re paralyzed, meanwhile, the Dilophosaurus venom is meant to make you trip falls, trying to figure out which Dilophosaurus is the real one, put in the short version as I like to call it, one venom paralyzes you, and the other one is a mind game

Troodon venom doesn't do damage. It applies a multiplier to pounce damage. At stage 3 the multiplier is 2x last I heard. So it's worse than you thought

Hypsilophodon of the carnivores really hit the nail on the head. I always thought it was silly of them to want troodon as a playable. They could've made much more use attaching it to their "events" they allegedly have planned for AI in the future.

I completely agree, but on the other hand I think both together would make the scariest mix pack... First the Dilo sends you on your hallicination trip and then the Troodons attack with their damage stacking venom pounce. While you also have to worry about the Dilo. Nights will be so much fun!

Yes. One of the things going for troodon is that it’s pounce is more in depth than Omnis making it funner In that aspect and even more deadly. Dilo is probably just gonna be stronger overall compared to Omni so yeah 🤷‍♀️

Troodon is a different playstyle than dilo. Troodon is like a hyena or coyote. Weak on their own but threatening in large groups. They have a short growth time because they have such low health that mistakes would be costly if it wasn’t short. Dilo plays like a venomous wolf. They are larger so bigger health but easier to spot relatively speaking. But relying on hit and run tactics and wearing down the prey. Troodon needs some love definitely but just like any new dinosaur everyone is going to rush to play it and the whole server is going to be that one species with a few of the previous ones peppered in till the hype dies down.

If Troodon gets a proper poison buff. And I do mean buff, it will not be replaced by Dilo. The reason for this is the size of Troodon allows them to roam around a hostile environment undetected. Thats gonna be a game changer when you have Omni amd Carnos on the map. But thats only if the Troodon gets a venom buff thats good enough.

Alright here is my "analysis" . Most troodon players will probably play filo or hers when they come out. For the first few weeks of dilos release most troodon players will play dilo to test the new big guy out, however some players might come back to troo. Here are my reasons. Reason 1: bugs, since the isle is "early access" there will be tons of bugs. Dilo will have bugs that need fixing. Reason 2: some people might not like dilos playstyle, people have opinions and they have to respected obviously and the final reason issss troodon is a small agile juvie hunter nieched dino. Some people want a dino that grows in like 30 mins and a dino you can get a massive pack in. Troodon is that dino, some people might want to play that over a dino that takes and hour and a half to grow. I hope you enjoy this essay, have a nice day

Dilo is gonna be able to take on other small tiers solo and apexes with a full group. Since troodon will probably be more fleshed out some people might play it. Troo also has a quick growth time which some people might prefer. However I also think dilo will basically replace 60-80% of the troo population

I do get the idea why is troodon constantly compared to dilo but to me, troodon was always just a smaller squishier raptor of a similar gameplay style as raptor with the difference of using raw dmg output rather than bleeding and some minigame to it as an addition. Not necessarily fitting into current roster since there is not so much prey in adulthood that can be considered easy for troodon to kill or common to find. But it would be fun to find out later that troodons are actually capable and very good at killing dilos :D This is something that can pull this dynamic to another level and maybe even solve the issue, who knows. I would definitely like to see something like that or maybe even ability to temporarily nullify dilo´s venom/NV range after envenomation.

I thought troodon's venom drained the target's stam. Did they nerf it? That's how I thought it should work. It makes more sense and with the new stam rework could actually be a threat. Troodon should be a nimble rat that kills by attrition, so the longer the fight the better the odds that they win. I heard they were reworking troodon venom, i hope this is included in the changes.

The roster is constantly improving with additional creatures and in my opinion it is not worth to make conclusion like this because if a creature is interesting or you like it or it is your favorite then you will play it. The server capacity needs to upgraded also improved and more servers should be added to maintain the player population. Also considering ai creatures to be added aswell to fill the missing places so players could see more "prey" and helpful animals. My own example for this is Warframe where there are always 4+3 prime warframe released each year and now we have 55 + a lot variant of frames and while true you see them less and less but because the roster is large the option is also larger to pick one what you like. There are warframes what I almost never see but there are people whom still playing them only just not aware of it. The same goes to The Isle because the roster is also improving, more choice of pick available you will choose whatever you like. The server population also needs to result the changes and an increased server cap and more players would make the population more diverse. Not guarantee you will play a specific creature but some will. Btw I am a Hypsi player.

I'm aware they go back and add things to older playables. situations I talk about in my videos are foreseeable, and current problems. that doesn't mean they cannot be avoided or fixed. the only thing I can see them doing to get people to play Troodon is if they make it's venom do something besides damage to spice things up and make it interesting.

i mostly play as troodon solo trying to eat peoples babys, the best are from the nest and sometimes try to use the venom somehow on juvie dinos like pachys,carnos and more, i never tried attacking a stego it just sounds too risky

Well, Troodoon is a meme-tier dino. killing other dinos as a Troodon pack is a highlight, not something you pull off on a regular basis consistently. Anything smaller than Utah or Dilo is not a competitive dino in terms of combat. Troodoon, Herrera and anything similar in size is meant to threaten humans and serve more in different game modes than Evrima. Dilo will hardly make an impact in the population of Troodoon, as Troodoon players are more about being small fast growing dino to meme around. However, Dilo will compete with Utah and will split the population of Utahs in half, serving as a choice between bleed damage pack playstyle or poison shenanigans pack playstyle.

So: - Troodon venom will be reworked (said Dondi) - has low HP, but is fast-growing, unlike Dilo - you do realise that an adult troodon can pin down half the fresh spawns and a solo troodon can kill any fresh spawns? So the Dryo argument is completely BS - a coordinated team can demolish any solo dino (unless they run away) - its small size makes it very easy to disappear even in grassland during the day. Not to mention the smaller hitbox. - Ohh, it's not an apex and actually requires a strategy to use? That's not the animal's fault. Its low HP is only a problem in the case of desync and pounce bugs. But these are present in the case of the Omni, and people still play it, so... The other problem is that Troodon is a team dino, you can't really play it with randoms, because they keep resetting the envenomation process :(( But other than these 2 drawbacks, troodon is pretty good. If I encounter a good team, I always run, and I advise the same to everybody.

I also witnessed many things in the game, and most of them are based on skill and luck. - okay, I agree. So? People will still choose dinos that don't require much planning. Dilo will have a grow time similar to Raptor. Rosterwide it will still be a fast grower. Troodons can kill fresh spawns.... great so can literally everything else. A coordinated pack can take anything. Great link that every happening or someone claiming it happened to them... Troodon will need a damn good venom rework to survive Dilo release.

I played troodon on a gateway around the time it came out and it… sucks because you can basically only kill something if it’s a fresh spawn or your in a mega pack. It just isn’t that fun compared to other dinos

I think people will still play troodons just because of how fast it is to grow. Not many people have time to grow something for 2 hours so I believe troodons will still be played.

One of the main issues playing Troodon is having to grow it just to only die instantly a few pounces in, barely getting to play/experience it full grown and having to start from the beginning again just takes away the fun of it

Honestly i dont even care about which Dino gets added anymore, im just so f-ing tired of waiting. The speed at which development is going is horrible, im currently in a "Play the Isle for half an hour, get bored because the game is empty af, start Path of Titans, get annoyed by people chilling together like theyre playing vrchat with no realism whatsoever behind it, also the graphics are nowhere nearly as good, stop playing after half an hour, start The Isle again, repeat" Situation. I know they said they wanna wait until they have a "huge bundle" of things to add, but honestly, the next huge bundle might be their stuff in a bag outside their office after ending development because their game died.

the vr chat thing is so real i say the same thing al the time. most unofficial servers keep water quality off so everyone sits around crater waiting for a rulebreaker so they can all dogpile them in the chat to make themselves feel empowered because all they do is sit on their ass irl and in the video game.

majority of the roster can't jump. dilo don't need to jump, other things need to jump FROM it.

As a troodon player, I will definitely abandon Troo the second dilo comes out. Troodon is insufferable to play on the gateway. It has no stam, can barely find ai or take down its preferred prey properly unless there's 20 other adults with you. Unless you hunt absolutely fresh, unattended juvies or hatchlings, there isn't much going for it. It should be the easiest carnivore to play as and is anything but that.

This is the only person being honest in here. I only play troodon and I play every night. But it's nearly unplayable and if I wasn't so stubbornly in love with small predators I would have quit for Omni. I am very good. But I am sick of being stuck trolling fresh spawns and scavenging. I was a Dilo player in Legacy. I'm done if this doesn't get fixed.

@@stryfegamingonline7583 I'm a good Troo player aswell, most of my hours on the Isle are from maining dilo. I agree with you completely, and I'm sick of not being able to thrive as what is supposed to be the second easiest carnivore in the game.
