BA'AL a proto semitic word from the Arabs and still onl used by Arabs . It has several meanings depending on the context . Ba'al as a noun for husband , means , lord , owner , also refers to unirrigated land and to marry/ unite . Ba'alah is a femine version of it , You see the "alah "at the end ? , HANI is still a boy's name meaning Pleasing , happy, good. HAMILCAR . PHOENICIANS who migrated from the middle east Lebanon orihinally migrated from east coast of Arabi Dilmun ( modern Bahrain ) . Colonialists have Romanised, Hellenised and Chritanised names some beyoung regognition .

You can't mix antiquity with Bible . There was never a Hebrew language , Ancient Hebrew is actually Canaanite- Phoenician language which they applied to their religious writings . Abraham who came from Iraq Ur would have spoken his native language not Phoenician . In the whole of ancient Iraq/ Mesopotamia there was no language called Hebrew. Hebrew - Abri is from Abar the Arabic to sail over .

Now I see that you are on a anti Hebrew rant. Antique Phoenician texts were found written with old Hebrew alphabet and words similar to Hebrew and not to Arabic. The Arabic writing - totally different. If you want to own the Phoenician - Carthaginian culture make my day. The poor "Hebrews" will then be left with the most scientific contributions and with more Nobel prizes winning than any other nation in history. They will gladly allow you to deny them their antique heritage.

@@joshuahalpern4426 Anti Hebrew ? whats does that even mean ? . You appear to be an anti semitic against Arabs . You're just no accepting historical factsnot my opinion and prefer Biblical myths. If you studied semtic langages you would know that what Israelis today speak is not the language The Israelites spoke . Todays so called Hebrew is a new mashed up language borrowed from classic Arabic , Yiddish and Biblical which is Phoenician and they had to use Arabic to decipher many difficult words . Proto Arabic has evolved as did so called Hebrew , and all languages . You're very right , most of the Noble prize winners are Jews and they happen to be WHITE ASHKINAZI EUROPEANS like ther none Jewish white people , not Semtic middel eastern Jews. Care to guess why ?

@@DurantandFriends Never. They used it continuously when praying while calling it "the "Holly Language". It was considered disrespectful to the sanctity of the bible to be used in secular conversation until the 19th century. With the emancipation of the Jews towards the end of the 19th century, the secular use of Hebrew was reinstated as a nonsacrilegious means of communication. The linguist Eliezer Ben Yehuda added new words related to new industrial and technological terms, but did not "reinvent" a dead language as some contend. Currently, speakers of modern Hebrew in Israel can understand the original Hebrew texts of the bible much like a speaker of modern English can understand the old English used in Shakespearian plays.

@@DurantandFriends We don't know for sure but the original Torah would have been written in the Canaanite/ Phoenician language they call Hebrew cause the Tribe that Abared / Haber/ Hebrew ( crossed over ) used it for their religious language and is quiet different to Modern Hebrew . Most ancient Jews were illiterate and would not have been able to read the Torah and would have spoken the " at the time lingua Franca " at the time including Aramaic , Greek even Roman .

@@joshuahalpern4426 Israelis don't speak Ancient Hebrew but speak Israeli which is a new invented language made out of a combination of Yiddish, modern Arabic and Biblical Hebrew ( Canaanite ). For Elizer to understand some very ancient and difficult words Arabic of course had to be used cause Canaanite is Proto Arabic

Carthaginians spoke Hebrew and were close to the ancient Hebrews. After the total destruction and massacre of Carthage by the Romans, there are no remaining Carthaginian sources of historical information about them, except from the Greek and the Roman sources, who had anti Carthaginian bias. The Carthaginian survivors may have joined the Judean settlements of the time due to cultural and linguistic similarities. Eventually, the Romans destroyed Judea as well and massacred the population. Today's Jews may be originating in these populations. Genetic studies of all Jews, including European Jews, show that they are Semitic, very close to the Middle Eastern Arabs. They are not sub-Saharan Africans. Sub-Saharan Africans have their own great civilizations, but they are neither Semitic nor Hebrews.

Josuhua Halpern...There is still plenty of evidence and common sense on ALL of African history, especially today.much information artifacts and more are still there.in Carthage.THe 1st people to SET FOOT IN THE SO CALLED MIDDLE EAST WERE NATIVE AFRICANS.People like you really need to bag it with your sub saharan nonsense. ALL NATIVE AFRICANS ORIGINATED FROM SUB SAHARA. The ONLY indeginous people to Africa belong to the black race. THERE WERE NO CAUCASIAN EMPIRES IN AFRICA PERIOD. Carthage was a black Empire as were ALL African Empires.,
