I used to semi-hate Will Ferrel in terms of his comedy shtick. Later I came to regognize him for being open with his comedy. Mugatu was brilliant, Anchorman was brilliant. For simiar reasons I used to look away from Robin Williams as he also forced laughs and joked like a machinegun, it kind of made it ...untolerable but later I "got" what his comedy was about. Williams obviously had a lot more roles that suited him 100% because of his ability to absorb characters and become them. Still I would say style wise, they are similar and both can feel...overwhelming and bland.
