Why is that a good combination, behaving with ignorance and confidence sounds dangerous. Confidence would require belief/conviction in what is true; have knowledge, while ignorance is a lack of knowledge and understanding.

@@somguy728 Make an argument, explain your thinking as i did. I probably don't understand the quote but it says i "need ignorance". There's no way out of Hard Determinism so ignorance is a natural position for us. I actually modeled my name from the word "Ignis" or Igni" which means fire. Originally i chose "Welkin" as a username about 25years ago, but some stupid anime game took that word and made it their main character, so it ruined it! I had that name first before that game was made dammit. 99% of user names are dumb/terrible anyway, look at yours, you don't even care.

@@amandajstar I thought it was hilarious. That said, it's difficult to explain why anything is funny really. There are some theories about why certain things are funny though and to whom. Off the top of my head Incongruity theory comes to mind.(theconversation.com/science-deconstructs-humor-what-makes-some-things-funny-64414) Basically it is funny because it subverts expectations. It can also be explained by Benign violations theory. This would also explain why people who are sensitive about being white when it comes to current racial issues would find it less funny (the violation isn't so benign to them) edit: I realize this looked like I was making assumptions about you and why you asked your question and that was not my intent. That exquisite sense of "awkwardness and uneasiness" most of us likely had as he starts to go after his wife then mixed with seamless delivery is his magic. This is brilliant and so very unique.

Will Ferrell. The type of man whose ridiculousness takes me far away from the seriousness of life. Because of his art, I likely upset the neighbors, bellowing laughter. A true comedian. This award is well deserved.

Never liked him when he was on SNL, but after watching some of his movies, including "Stranger Than Fiction" where he plays more or less a straight man, I realize he's a pretty talented dude and he IS funny.

+lolnation123 If the prize represents a future value (after 10.000 years) of 1 billion dollars and you incorporate compounding interest of even 0,5% into the calculation, the monthly/yearly payments would be practically zero.

My favorite part of this was the bit centered around the trophy. The irony when his speech keeps centering on how he's going to look after the trophy is really funny. He also leans into the bit and takes his time awkwardly picking up the pieces of the award and glancing nervously at the busted bust as he speaks.

Probably the greatest comedian of our time. It's amazing how effortlessly and undetectably Will Ferrell can go from being dead serious to hilarious. You never know which is which and that keeps your attention firmly fixed on his every expression at all times. Truly a master of humor
