Halloween Ends is a 2022 American slasher film that is the sequel to Halloween Kills (2021), the thirteenth installment in the Halloween franchise, and the final film in the trilogy of sequels that started with the 2018 film, which directly follows the 1978 film. Directed by David Gordon Green and co-written by Green, Danny McBride, Paul Brad Logan and Chris Bernier, the film stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Andi Matichak, Rohan Campbell, Will Patton, Kyle Richards, and James Jude Courtney. The film revolves around Corey Cunningham, a young man who falls in love with Laurie Strode's granddaughter while a series of events, including crossing paths with Michael Myers, upend his life and render him a murderous outcast.

I think Corey should have been introduced in the first one as a love interest for the granddaughter and Corey letting her know that he's not going to be able to make it tonight for the dance because he has to babysit...The events play out relatively the same...The sequel is we get the flashback to Corey babysitting and what happened The night Michael was killed... time jump Corey is getting out of jail and is greeted by the granddaughter and the movie plays out much like this one maybe a bit different because we would have a bit more backstory behind Corey...Corey finds Michael pretty much the same way, the evil transfers and in a reaction he stabs Michael in a way that looks fatal steals his mask then proceeds to be Michael Myers...the third that's where stuff gets really crazy... Find out that the Myers Mask is a prototype from Silver Shamrock the idea was the person who put on the mask essentially becomes an unstoppable killing machine, and this was their first idea for sacrifice before they came up with just giving all the kids masks... I'll admit this last part is a bit out there to bring Silver Shamrock in at the third film would be a big nuts move lol

I absolutely agree with Joe. This wasn’t a final film in a trilogy. In my opinion you never introduce a brand new character in the third film of your trilogy and focus on him while the legacy characters take a back seat. I do like the ideas but they shouldn’t of been in this damn movie!

I saw it in theatre twice and liked it more the second time around. Mainly because I knew what to expect. This definitely won't be the last nor should it be. There's always a way to keep it going. Even if someone else wants to keep it within the same continuity they could do something similar to Jason Goes to Hell and explore this force or entity that drives him. I was confused with the whole patient thing in Kills at first too. But after watching it again (multiple times because it rules!). I realized that when they show pictures of the escaped patients, they don't give the names on the news let alone specify which one was which. Tommy and the rest of the people jumped to conclusions. So it does atleast make some sense why there was that confusion at the hospital. Nobody there (outside of Laurie, Karen, Allyson and Frank) saw Michael that night. They don't know what he looks like or what he's wearing.

I have to believe that if you just googled "Michael Myers" in that universe, a picture of Michael would be there, you would have numerous youtube videos discussing his murders, etc, the images might not be the most up to date but you'd know The Penguin isn't him. "He always wore a mask, how do we know it's not him?" Yeah Tommy he was wearing a mask during the trial and the 40yrs of time since. Tommy is so obsessed with Michael I just can't buy he has no idea what he looks like. All that said I do really like Halloween Kills.

@@dazz9881 No doubt there'd be pictures online but they'd be Michael at 21, not 61. Some people's appearance can change drastically over a long period of time. Unless Tommy paid him a visit at Smith's Grove or there was some sort of documentary about him that featured recent pictures or footage he wouldn't know. If it wasn't for the fact I recognize the actor's name, I wouldn't have known that this guy playing Tommy Doyle was also the nerdy guy in the Breakfast Club.

Corey&Michael represent "Nature vs Nurture". Michael is a killer by "Nature"(no reason other than he's evil, a twisted animal instinct), Corey represents "Nurture"(to quote the Joker "all it takes is 1 bad day"), the trauma/guilt of the accident,the community elected him town monster(because without Michael,they need a new boogeyman, a "shape" to their pain) and his home life. Corey became a monster because the people of Haddonfield fabricated(Nurtured)him into being 1. It's interesting but the last stand between Michael Myers&Laurie Strode shouldn't have taken the backseat for it. The Corey BS would've worked better in a different Halloween film. Either way I enjoyed it more than Halloween6,H20,RZ'sH2&Resurrection and slightly more than Halloween Kills. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on this film. I liked the movie but it fundamentally doesn't function well as the end of a trilogy. The end of a trilogy is meant to tie everything together and close it off, not introduce a bunch of random new elements at the 11th hour. The Corey thing and the finale between Michael and Laurie feels like two different movies that were awkwardly stitched together. Corey should've gotten an entire movie that just focused on his storyline as the start of a new trilogy.

(2 months later) new Halloween trilogy that focuses on Danielle Harris' Jamie Lloyd from H4(ignoring everything after 4), next trilogy is the Josh Hartnett trilogy,followed by the Busta trilogy. As long as Malek Akkad owns the rights to the franchise, we're pretty much stuck with whatever nonsensical idea they have to keep the franchise going.

Jeez man those chips are killers, cottage cheese is a big help for it. I totally get where you guys are coming from. I've only seen the film once and didn't go in expecting much especially since it's a trilogy when it should of just been one or two films. Looking at the whole franchise...it's not the worst or the best it's okay. I gave it a 7/10 crazy I know, but the ending is what I wanted. I feel if they give this another go just do an anthology Halloween 3: Season of the Witch has become so popular and cult classic that I'm sure Blum House/Universal Studios will want to do another. Hear me out: everyone keeps saying the "eye thing" was a transference of power. I took it as Michael didn't know that Lori was still alive at the end of Kills. Didn't they not have anymore contact since she got stabbed? So if anything, he looked into Corey's eyes and saw everything Corey had seen "or something," and regained some sort of dark purpose. That's how I read into it.

No, maybe for this Michael Myers and Laurie Strode for good since she doesn't have the true acceptance of exit without a win over Michael Myers. Since Carpenter is tired of having the rights, maybe give the rights to someone that actually respects Michael Myers, unlike DGG. Give him a reboot and as brutal as Rob Zombie's Halloween version, but have supernatural powers that actually keep him alive. That and get someone big enough that looks menacing and could easily break someone's neck or any body part.

So many things done wrong with this movie. Michael and Laurie’s ending seemed like an afterthought. And I can’t believe how underused both Frank and Lindsey were, especially her since she’s the original actress and character from 1978. I was so hoping for a huge, massive, long chase & fight scene with Michael vs. Laurie, Lindsey and Allyson at the end throughout the whole house and the abandoned house next door with all three women surviving. I think it would have been a very powerful ending for the three of them considering how Michael impacted each of their lives. So many missed opportunities. I hope better writers come along soon and go back and repair what was done to Jamie Lloyd and bring back Danielle Harris and a relentless Michael Myers that she needs to fight off.

It was bad. It was bad that they made them not related and then created a weird doctor to aim him back at Curtis. In reality it could have been 2 sequels where he was just scary and killing random babysitters and maybe the kids of victims of the town. If you want Curtis to kill him have her moved away and hearing about a serial killer in her hometown on the news and her going back kinda like what the did poorly in the new Texas chainsaw. Loved the review. You guys taking on the spicy chip challenge was hilarious! Next year for Halloween i hope you have Tony on and you have a chilli eating challenge 😃 With Halloween Ends, i am torn. On the one hand its a good movie and does something different,. But on the other hand, its crap how they made Michael almost a side character, when it should have been all about him, being the last movie in this trilogy. I have an idea on how they could have changed the order of the movies to make it a thousand times better. They should have switched Halloween Ends with Halloween Kills, just switch the titles. Just change the ending to Halloween Ends so Michael isnt put through the shredder (when they take off Michael's mask have it be Corey), then Have Halloween Kills as the last movie of the series. This would make a lot more sense as the town is fed up, having what looks to the to be a copycat killer in Corey, and now they are out for blood and want to take Michael out once and for all, including Laurie who is at the compound ready to take on Michael one last time, and wants retribution for him killing his daughter in Halloween 2018. Then it ends with the final battle between Michael and Laurie at her compound, and the audience is left wondering if Michael is still alive. Instead they end the series with Ends and ruin everything with the trashiest and laziest ending. I give them props for doing something different, but don't do the different thing in the last movie and give Michael such a poor send off.

I hated Kills on the first watch. We did a triple feature for Ends and on second watch Kills didn't bother me as much. Definitely poor writing. That said, I'd watch it a million times before I watched Ends again. Ends was one of the worst experiences I've sat through. It made me physically mad 😠

This movie was ...not disappointing because i had zero expectations, but actually kind of boring, which is the worst sin for an horror movie. I don't care at all about Corey and he is not scary at all. I like the fact they somewhat made the killer human again, just a crazy dude, but why in the last movie of a Trilogy? Make me care about Corey during the other movies, then make him "flip" and become the "new Michael". I obviously didn't expect the movie to "wow" me, but this is some netflix adaptation levels of writing(maybe not that bad but come on!)

@@MovieDumpster this. I can't understand what happened to Laurie. He prepped for years, then the person she HATES the most kills her daughter. I want to see Laurie going full Sarah Connor in T2, sell everything she owns,hire some actual killers and go on a hunt. Not a mob, not some Hollywood caricatures for gangsters, no, actual killers and never stop until either she or Michael are dismembered and buried in cement. Or make her completely broken. This :" Well, hell of a storm, let's go to japan with this guy" pseudo happy ending makes no sense. Sorry for the rant. XD btw great episode

19:07 best moment by you guy with that chip challenge and entering the intense heat from it just to get through this review of Halloween ends. I do agree with you Joe about how they did this final chapter of the Halloween series mostly because I believe they had no idea how to finish this series in the first place considering that if you look at all three of this trilogy they follow a pattern from the original Halloween film franchise. For example in Timeline wise you can have the original Halloween, followed by Halloween 2018, then Halloween Kill, and now Halloween ends. But there is a comparison as well to Halloween 2 which was basically a continuation of the first Halloween (ex: H1 (1978) act 1, H2 act 2), Halloween kills which can be considered a reboot of Halloween 2, in terms of plot, and Halloween ends is like Friday the 13 (part 4): the final chapter and Friday the 13 (part 5): A new beginning.

Right, but F13 4 & 5 commit to their ideas. And technically Jason DID die in Final Chapter. If we exclude LIVES and on, it’s actually a nice progression and “end.” Tommy Jarvis was believable, Corey is not. One movie is not enough to tell his arc like I said in review, and then 180 on the commitment. -Joe

@@MovieDumpster very true concerning the effect on how they were trying to treat Corey as the new Mike Myers to take his place, but I also feel like Myers was making Corey his puppet/Avatar, so to speak, for him to do the kills so in a way the legend of Michael Myers can still continue on even after his death. However these crap that idea and just have that lame fight between Myers and Strode in the end.
