Secret service mostly prevent such things from happening in first place, they follow everything and know intentions of dangerous people, this shooter didn't have social media probably not even lots of friends, so he was just lone wolf, nobody knew his intentions. Well, to be fair that was Peter Strzok an FBI agent who was trying to impress his liberal girlfriend in a text message. He never held any real position of authority in the bureau but it was weird of course but not surprising because of the Democratic stranglehold over government agencies after 8 years of Obama and his “change” that he brought to the government. Such agencies are influenced from the top down and the FBI director knew he probably wouldn’t last through a Trump administration. The secret service started to go downhill during the Bush years. They used to be under the treasury department and because no one else in that department was qualified they could do their job without interference. It got moved to department of homeland security at which point higher ups in DHS started to interfere with the SS since of course they are "experts".
