Here’s the hypocrisy of college football. A lowly thought of sec team like Vandy beats Bama & the reporters reaction is “Wow, look how strong the sec is.” A lowly thought of team like ASU beats preseason conference contenders KU or UU in back to back weeks they say “Wow, look how bad the B12 is.” 🤬🤷🏻‍♂️

Our non conference schedule is so weak we won’t even be considered for ranking until halfway through the season. Kirby and Joey have to stop scheduling non-conference cupcakes to pad the win column.

Who cares how your ranked during the first half of the season. Those spots are reserved for the tea sips and their ilk. Cup cake non conference opponents seem to work out fine for the SEC and Notre Dame.

Tough to climb the rankings when you enter the top 25 so late. And no P4 team’s non conference is even close to ours next year. Ark-PB (terrible in FCS), Kent St (dead last in all of D1 football) and Ore St.

the entire point of a fairly large 12+ team playoff should be to get us away from the rankings meaning much. no one in the NFL cares about power rankings. should be able to keep the fun of the off-season chatter and rankings without the insanity of overrating a team like Bama all the way through the year and even in final season polls.

I expect HS FB recruiting to look a lot more like this year's basketball. You'll take smaller HS classes but those you do take have real importance. Coaches will likely want to stay a bit older but also snag elite recruits at HS level. Like Tech grabbed CA4 this year; but also, a couple end of roster developmental guys. Then a smallish but extremely targeted portal class. I don't think Tech football will return to taking 25+ HS kids per year. 18-22 seems about right going forward with the 105-roster limit.

Good to let the freshman to gain muscle before playing but what about experience? It doesn’t seem logical to have players that meet the measurables but doesn’t have any playing experience.

My gut is telling me that rules regarding the transfer portal are going to become more restrictive (re sitting out a year again), especially with programs like Tech trouncing the big guys in that space. Leading to a renewed interest in high school recruits, because things tend to revolve in circles. Please give me your feedback on this.

Fact check on Ŧ’s HS 50% hit rate especially for OL and DL starters, starting McGuire’s 4th year , what or how many recruited HS players have been or are projected to be starters on either their OL or DL??? Waiting to see all the expected changes to be able to agree to Ŧ’s commitment to a heavy HS recruitment strategy vs the Portal.

If, as Chris has been known to say, we have to let these freshmen “cook”, I would say try to get the big bodies in the portal, with a few home grown mixed in. With NIL and the portal, there is no guarantee that the youngsters will stick around. Why devote time, energy and money into the players from high school players when they might leave once they are “done cooking”?
