I remember the year my eldest son was born (1972). We lived in a flat which was in a Cul-de-Sac that had a large green in the middle with road all around. He was 10 months old on Christmas Eve and I was holding him and looking out of the window, it was snowing and looked beautiful with all the fresh snow. Then a Salvation Army band and choir arrived and started playing and singing Carols with the snow falling. It was simply magical. I will never forget it

There are many charity`s doing stuff for the elderly and housebound at Christmas - Church communities cooking food for some on the day. They are always seeking spud peelers is you want to volunteer.
