I have two Rockville k6 12s powder by my taramps hd3000.1. Only wired at 4 ohms but man iv had them hammering for over a year. And I completely believe that Rockville has great subwoofers.?

So I actually bought the K5 12” with the matching box combo, and used that with a 500w lightning audio amp. It worked fine for over a year, i just didnt push it that hard if i smelled anything i turned it down. I believe it was 4 ohms. It actually still works fine. I got a new box and replaced it with a 2 ohm K6 and its insane compared to the K5. I dont try to overheat or destroy my gear so everything has been lasting me. I am definitely liking the K6, it’s definitely getting alot of use and its really nice and loud. Just a bit of a different comment cause most crap on these but they are working fine for me. My next move is probably a Deaf Bonce SA272. I appreciate Rockville because , even though they are overrating their watts , compared to everything else in that price range they seem way nicer. Now I enjoy bass! I think the k6 was 99$. Cheers

funny i just uploaded my video on the rockvilles , i like the k6 12 d2 , the d2 uses thicker coil wire and seems to hold power better than d4 . what hz were the songs you were playing ? and how long was it broke in for ? i was able to clamp more power out of my k6 than the k9 , my subs are d2 , used a smaller box 1.4cu ft. tuned 34hz , broke in for 2 weeks before getting rated power music and then another week before going ham on em . for 75$ i think they are great subs . im still running the 15d1 destroyer , ran it for over 6 months on clamped rated power , now its getting a little more than rated with a ds18 3.5k pro spl amp still goes strong , dont stink and does great numbers on the termlab , going to toss a BC5500 on it here soon and see if it takes that .

Yeah mine is the D4. Just watched it. Good video! I let it break in for a few hours. In my opinion a test tone isn’t really a good way to test rms power. Much more brutal than music and you would only use a test tone for a few secs for SPL. I think a lot of subs would blow in a similar amount of time under he same test.

@@ParkerTheBasshead for sure . test tone is brutal on subs , especially new subs . i like to give them couple week's of daily to break em in slowly stepping up . from my experience of blowing subs on purpose that a new sub will fail faster than a sub that has a good month or more of break in . like its crazy what some old subs will take lol !

That's a thermal test. The rise in impedance reveals power compression as the voice coil heats up. When ANY driver goes into power compression the input should be reduced or thermal failure will occur. The smell is your first clue as well. ;)

I’ve been out of bassville for 20 years and just came back not knowing anything, so much has changed. Bought a Rockville 12 sub, did widen the box, hooked it up to a 500 watt mono bridged amp and sounds good if you point it at the rear of trunk facing the nice people tailgating. After watching this I will spend the extra $25 and get a bigger motor but the bigger amp comes first.

I'd still like to see Fi Audio Alpha. Only rated for 750w RMS for $160, but it's so beefy I wouldn't be surprised if it could take quite a bit more.

I thought all fi’s subs were much higher rms. It looks a lot like (and has similar specs to) the ssa demon I picked up recently. It’s rated at 550 but they told me the one in their test vehicle takes 1200 all day.

I actually use ALOT of the Rockville amps for customers that want a real budget setup. I've had one amp fail out of about 20 I've put in in the last 3 years. The amp that failed was my personal db16 pushing a single ab xfl12 on sketchy electrical for over a year and then put in my buddies truck on ok electrical pushing 4 sq hds2.108s @2 ohms. Rockville sent me another one after almost 3 years for $75. Can't complain to hard about that...won't buy thier speakers tho, two sets of em was enuff lol

Parker you dropped the ball. You could have done sweeps to show the frequency response curve in the vehicle and it's maximum output with clean power within it's power handling capability, but you would rather blow it up... a nice clean sounding 135db is all that many of us want and that $75 is all that many of us need, but we'll never know if it gets to that level of output now.

Old video now but I just bought a rockville amplifier for a budget build and didn't quite understand what I was buying and now I have an amp wayyyy to powerful for the subs I have. So I already own the subs and ive been told the exact voltage to achieve the subs rms rating (no, not from some dude on the internet) so im gonna use them till the go or maybe don't go who knows but anyways was looking at some rockville subs to match with the rockville amp, was looking at 12" due to already having the 12" box and found this exact sub but in the 2ohm version which claims 2ohm rms of 600 watts, and the amp only supplies 500 watts rms 2ohm so I figure that would put it in a pretty safe range. Not looking to blow my doors off but that would use more potential of the amp than the subs i currently have.

my k6 takes rated daily no problem music , my destroyers clamp over rated daily music .... ive done tons of 20-30 second burps and never had a problem , nobody sits in the lanes and burps a test tone for 1 min straight in any org . guess i need to take some videos this week cuz in my setups they do just fine.....

@@atleder1 also power output depends on rise , say he is wired to 1ohm he will never see the 1ohm power of that amp . Voltage and other factors also have effects on power output. Drives me nuts that people see what a amp does at 1ohm on the dyno and they think they are gonna get that power wired to 1ohm, that's not how it works and why clamp testing is very important in a real world setup , a dyno has a resistive load , a subwoofer is reactive meaning its impedance changes with movement.

All Rockville subs are actually rated for half of what they claim. Their "RMS" is how much your amp should be rated for. If it's 600 rms you're supposed to buy an amp that is rated for 600 rms at your wired impedance.

Actually, I would say the rating on Rockville subs are actually correct, I think what's happening here is Rockville rate their sub like any pro audio driver are rated... In a pro audio sub, a rms rating is not what the voice coil can take with a sinewave test tone.... The rms is more accurate to a pinknoise noise (which is recreating music) not a single sine wave. Soo what I can see here is that car audio rating are just not the same as pro audio... I really think that pro audio kind of rating should be the standard...

@@daviddescheneaux9194 any subwoofer will blow in time on a tone , trying to think of a good way to explain this , say you take a coil out of a sub and set it on a bench and put power to it with no ability to move or cool , the coil can shed a certain amount of heat "watts" before it starts to melt the glue holding it together and the coating on the wire . Now when you take that same coil and put it in a subwoofer it can move and cool , but how it moves and cools is very dependent on box , take your ported box and plug half the port and you can see a difference in how far the sub moves at the same volume, seal the port off and the sub moves even more different, same with airspace. Take a ported box and play a tone then put a brick or 2 in the box and play the same tone and volume and you will see a difference in movement.

@@mazda2284 right, i understand the concept of reflex inclosure and how the port works, in this case I think he said the box was tunned to 36hz and he played a 40hz since wave. That's pretty far to port tunning of the box... Meaning the excursion of the driver would be relatively high meaning better cooling. What I'm comparing here is how pro audio drivers and car audio drivers don't have the same definition as their rms value. I have seen some car audio sub that can play their rms rating for super super long on test tone sinewave, now try that with a pro audio driver ... It would be cooked in no time. also u gotta remember the sub sees the most watt at the port tunning of the enclose.. so in this example playing the ratted rms value with a 40hz tone into a 36hz tune box does not create what music does to a sub ... To produce that sinewave power, you need a way bigger amp that is able to push into the higher impendence resistance of the box. Anyways... Just my observation the ratting of car vs pro

I think if you know what your getting into then the sub is fine..most of listening to decaf and rebassed music should keep it down to 500rms.they get stinky very fast...best thing about Rockville is the 90day warranty...blow it and send it back...

Ive never bought a Rockville product and i never will. But to be fair, they made it very clear that their products are rated in nominal terms. So a 600 watt sub should be matched with a 600 watt amp for their products. Of course, you'll never get 600 watts from a 600 watt amp because of box rise.

@Timothy on second thought, it may not be the coils at all. If you play back the video, you'll see that Parker did a continuity check on the coils and they didn't fry. That leads me to believe that the glue that they're using to glue the coil to the former is the culprit.

I'm not going to lie I've seen a couple videos on a couple of categories of their subwoofers and they all wind up doing this period and I can also speak firsthand with owning one of their amplifiers it fried out within about 2 months under commuter usage.

I couldn’t help but notice the smd you had black to red and red to black on the plugs leading out? Does it matter? I was only going to get a 12 K6 to look at, I’m a sub nerd and sub lover and since the subs I run are 60-91 pounds each you can’t just chill with them on your lap or just look at them comfortably flip them around stuff like that. I want to start buying 12 inch subs once or twice a month ranging from 60-120 each . I want to get into sub building after going to a sub builder for my last two sets of 15’s and being a sub nerd since I was bout 9 I’m 38 now I roll around with a 20hz test tone all the time (Bass Extreme’s- 20 hurts) or the test tones on some Bass Mechanic albums. But I have plenty of current and only rock subs with 4inch coils. Had custom made Orion hcca’s traded them in for custom made Adire Audio 3001kh’s. But ya maybe it was a fluke maybe you should’ve sent it back to test another but eh no biggie your keepn us informed in real time testing situations. Couldn’t ask for anything more for those almost about to get one. But ya looks like if you want to go “budget sub(s)- Audiopipe, a few Power Acoustics subs, OR the cheaper Sundown or Skars subs are the way to go. I’ve been a Fosgate fan since I first discovered them the P3’s seem to be solid the T2’s if you can find them are nice I’m buying mine back from my buddy when I can just to have :). Oh don’t forget your rocking a Taramps those Brazilian amps are no joke bully’s to subs my Stetsom 6k pushes like MAD and no clipping

k6 for 75$ is great imo , nvx vcw 122 135$ awesome sub , destroyer d1 260$ great for the price bracket , american bass XFL , skar ZVX , sundown SA , FI Xv3 , dc lvl2 - lvl3 , ect

Polarity only switches which way the sub moves , with only 1 sub it wont cause any damage, with 2 subs it can because the subs are moving opposite directions. With 1 sub Only difference would be the phase and if the speakers are crossed over below subwoofer crossover it might cause a lack in bass output due to cancellation.

Not to sound negativw. Has anyone had good luck with any rockville sub. Ive honestly never seen one last. I still have a volcano 15 single coil from the 80s and a cerwin vega at15 from the late 80s both still play fine and yes ive beat them up over the years. Almost forgot i have a pyle driver 15 as well from early 90s. That has a whole in the surround from a cat but still plays fine looks bad because i used a rubbery silicone to cover the whole in rubber suspension. The cerwin is suppose to handle 400watts ive ran it on a few home amps and just the 15 i put in a 3 cubic foot sealed box for a year or 2 was in back of my brother bronco 2 was running on a 500 watt rockford the entire time and was fed from a cheap pioneer cd player into a puoneer eq6500, which let me very the crossover point depending on music type i was playing. I still have 2 eq6500s in my collection have an old 80s yamaha 4 channel amp that i used for tweeters in my brothers bronco 2. Im legally blind never had a license is y not ever in my own car. I used in home theatre.

Yoo Parker i know you had the skar rp2000 did you have that smd reader then i was curious how many watts you was getting out of it i got the vxf and my rp2000 is about half gain or a little under half but i was turning it up and my sub was taking it all no clipping at all

Rockville has not impressed me with their subs. That said I have found good luck with their normal car speakers and I really like their concert/club cabinets . They do make a good full range unit and their club stuff gets violently loud.

I mean for a average system it's a great bye set it at like 300 or 400 watts and it prolly be a great sub I got a k9 12 in my shop it sees maybe 400 watts max it sounds great after a year works just fine but they cant take thier wildly rated rms

Yeah I have k9 as well I’ve had over a year in my Subaru and it hasn’t given me any issues. Have it on a 1k amp so probably only seeing 500-600 watts after rise

Also what would you say is your NUMBER ONE mid tier sub for someone that is budget but dont wanna go too cheap either
