I have a built Evo 8 RS that I would consider selling if you want something still rare but not quite as irreplaceable as a TME. It’s got an ACD transfer case that unlocks the rear when you pull the handbrake too; it’d be a little nicer on the drivetrain for those slides
@XxAtomic646xX2 жыл бұрын
acd is doodoo, pump is unreliable, which is why most delete it.
@CHNO-hs6nx2 жыл бұрын
I’ve had no issues 60,000mi and many track days, autocross, rallycross, and ice races later. If it goes it can be rebuilt. If he keeps holding the ebrake down through slides he’s going to grenade the viscous coupling
@Forcefed20022 жыл бұрын
It looks to me that diago was using more weight transfer in the apexs than adam is and with less handbrake

I like how Adam tried AWD slides! Like, RWD power over you can feel the car yaw around your hips, AWD slides are both yaw and translation, so you feel both forward and sideways motion at once. 4 wheel drifting vs RWD rear end swing basically. That's the first thing I realized in the winter with my WRX

If you got an 8 with acd. You'd be golden. It's basically meant for handbrake turns. Similar to the sti dccd in a way, where it disconnects the center diff when the handbrake is pulled

I'm sure there are multiple purists who are super upset right now, but having owned various Evo's over the years I love it. Upgrade the T-case, axles, and make sure that your turbo and cams are basically ready to go hog wild from 4K to 8K RPM with a decent amount of torque. Titanium springs and retainers aren't a bad idea as the stock valvetrain really isn't great above 7-7500 RPM but you've already been through the Evo game with you and your team. I'm preaching to the choir at this point but I love a simple build that just replaces the head studs, upgrades the valvetrain, and adds a few bolt-ons with solid tuning and fuel so you can have fun safely without breaking the bank. Also, OEM Mitsubishi fluids for everything, no Redline cocktails. If you still keep having unexpected understeer with around 450lb-ft of torque with the stock torque split just swap tires and check the alignment. These cars can be whipped around stock if you are willing to go for it and possibly do some damage.

You need like 700-100hp high speed stuff. also I think you are fine because RS but regular EVO AYC can interfere, giving similar behaviour to what you were describing. And as you say Stay in it. I have seen my share of evos fly into concrete walls because the driver lifted and front wheels bite and slingshot the car into the wall. I think you drive extremely well though bro and your driver feedback is excellent.

Just a few tips to help make it a lil easier. Don't use the handbrake as much as you would with rwd, the weight balance will make it easiest to slide the car out then you can start to use handbrake but not in entry but to swing the car in the opposite direction so when you put the power down you get a much smoother swing

as a lifelong rally fanatic I hope Adam inspires some new interest in rally for people who may not have been exposed to it, especially if it resulted in more grassroots events and stuff. It just feels like there's such a big barrier to entry to go rally racing, at least way more than drifting, hence why I'm currently building a drift car not a rally car despite rally being what literally got me into cars as a f*cking toddler

Crazy gorgeous car! Awd is a bit different to drift, can be snappy but using understeer and allowing the car to fade to the outside of the corner will help combat that snappiness. I am no pro or expert by any means, just speaking from experience and I am sure there are many side comments that'll be thrown at this so please take what I say with a grain of salt! 😁 cheers 🍻
