If you have any of those Twinkies left, try wrapping one or two in a hot steam towel for a minute or so and see if the "life" comes back to them.

@EpicenterBryan Have you tried Oreo Cookies? When team was eating the FD Twinkies, the prevailing comment was the hardness. So, I thought of dipping into hot tea which then led me to Oreo Cookies in milk. I would assume the Oreo in the FD state would be good but FD right into milk... a good way to get powdered milk down the gullet.

Slightly freeze Twinkies so you can slice. Puree blueberrie, strawberries or raspberries (my favorite) with bananas so it is like a thin paste and dob on top of each slice. Makes it easier to eat, like a cracker, and adds flavor. yummy yummy to my tummy.

I first watched the video with sound turned off. I decided that our host was a sort-of “GET OFF MY LAWN” guy. After a second run, with audio, it became apparent that he is more of a cheerful Ed Begley type. Well, just goes to show you that it’s always something. Good luck with your further adventures.

Part of the allure of a Twinkie for me is the softness. Still, fortune cookies are good too.

I am curious as to how your ice cream turned out. I remember trying ice cream that had been freeze dried when I was about 10 years old. I had gone to Kennedy space Center and they were telling us how the astronauts would sometimes eat freeze dried foods. It was actually pretty good. I remember how dry it was, obviously. And the texture seems so strange, I do remember liking it though.

Fruit is a given. I love all fruit. Twinkies I freeze, slice, and put strawberries & whipped cream on instead of shortcake. So, I would probably like them too. 😁👍🏼

I am just about to make the plunge and get one. When I saw the large one...I fell in love. The only 220 plug I have is out in the detached garage. Is it ok to not have it where it can be watched constantly? We can periodically go check it but with a unit that expensive I don't want to take a chance on something going on. Like when we go to bed.
@EpicenterBryan8 жыл бұрын
Operation is pretty much automatic after starting the batch. There is a freezing cycle first while the pump remains off. I like to time my batch so I'm here when the pump starts just to make sure there are no leaks or anything odd going on. I also like to be here when the batch is done. That way you can check to see if everything is fully dry and if not, add time to the final dry. If you need to add time, the pump needs to cool for an hour which is also automatic. And again, I like to be here when the pump starts again.

Thank you for replying.. I want the large one and the only 220 plug we have without unplugging our dryer or stove is outside in the detached garage. :)

Makes me wonder how Ding Dongs and the Oatmeal cookies with the cream in the center would turn out. Or even the Star Crunches from Little Debbie. I also wonder about juices. I can get the silicone pans that would fit inside the HR Trays and poor something liquid in there for say... Lemon powder, Orange powder etc.

How long did it take for twinkies to dry
@EpicenterBryan3 жыл бұрын
The twinkies don't take much time. The issue is that blueberries took lots of time (It was a mixed load). My bet is a full batch of twinkies would take 18 hours on their own. Blueberry's on their own could take 48 hours.

Hey there- I'm so addicted to your videos, great job. I'm interested to know if you pre-froze the Twinkies? If not, did you push the pre-frozen button or not frozen since the blueberries were frozen? Also, do you have footage of your cart with the new pump? I noticed you have different connects going on that I'm interested in. Looks like a super coooool place to work!

I have watched a few of your videos and not understanding why you are not hydrating the product before you try it? YOU would get a better understanding of what the texture is, and product taste like when you decide to EAT YOUR FREEZE DRIED ITEMS, versus just eating it dry like that. MAKES NO SENSE TO ME!
