As a guy, I'm just nerding out over your setup. I just don't like acrylic stuff either. I had a cotton beany long time ago and just loved it and you can never find them in the store. I want to buy one of those Addi's and make me some stuff. Looks cool.

I'm so happy I learned long ago as an artist that cheaper alternatives are usually sub-standard and frustrating. My first knitting machine was the Addi King and have since added the Addi Professional. I make beanies and mittens to donate to the local women's shelter. I've been homeless and cold with a baby, and it sucked so now I'm just trying to help make a few lives warmer and happier despite the nasty South Dakota winters.

I have the King Addi Express, it is fairly new to me. I have made two hats so far. I LOVE it. I can't wait to make more projects with it!!

Omgosh! I’ve been using my addi for a lil over a year and I love it! I hand knit and crochet a bunch of hats and I also use my addi so I can get enough done by Christmas. I never tried chunky yarn ( my addi hates Red heart worsted for some reason) I am going to try the chunky yarn now!!! TFS
@annwithaplan9766 Жыл бұрын
I'm surprised it did well with the thick yarn. I may try it with that type next time. My machine does NOT like the jumbo yarn pack, or other thicker ones. It doesn't like some cotton yarns, either. But I have made lots of hats with the Sugar and Cream cotton before. I've had mine going on 4 years now. I recently got an electric motor that spins the needles around pretty fast, It really helps, because I have a bad wrist and turning that big flat handle causes a lot of pain to my wrist. Wish they had put a handle on like the Centro has.

I was 50/50 about the Addi vs Sentro but after this review and the the fact that Addi does chunky yarn, which is my FAV, I got the Addi!! Thanks for the review! 🥳

Small fishing weights on stitch markers spaced evenly works perfectly until project gets enough weight itself. I use 6 .25 ounce with wire loops.

As a helper to prevent dropped stitches on the ends? That's brilliant! I don't have a lot of problems with panel knitting but this is a cool feature for sure.

@@thecraftygrrl They're more for being able to stop without going too far past where you want to knit. I like them because I don't always pay super close attention unless the machine makes me stop.

I have so many black sharpie marks on my sentro bumpers to help me stop in time and it was working but this is will def help ensure I don't get distracted and go too far.

I used a super chunky on it and it broke a needle. The tension may have been off, but it was catching all over the place and grinding the handle when turned. It was bad.

Hi Tori, just advising you haven't got your yarn placed correctly in the yarn holder. You need to slide the top of the yarn holder to the left, place your yarn in & slide that bit top back over it, I think that will help a little with your yarn but cotton I've heard is difficult to work with in these machines.
@annwithaplan9766 Жыл бұрын
She did slide it over to the left. She just did it really fast, but she just didn't put the yarn all they way through the holder. Some people use just that little hole and others don't.

I like my addi and she doesn’t like every yarn so you will just have to try them. Acrylic works better to me. I love it ❤

I do many of my wearables with cotton like this project here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmbJp2tjpdJglbs - the one drawback is that it often takes longer in the machine due to constant monitoring of the yarn but it is worth it in the end.

Is there a way to weave in some kind of abrasive in the cotton one to really make it scrub?

I’m glad to see this machine works with cotton but I was wondering: have you ever knitted with other natural fibres? I live in New Zealand and we don’t tend to use as much acrylic as in the U.S. We have beautiful wools, such as merino blends. Has anyone used wool on their machine? ❣️🌹

I am in UK and in local shops they only have acrylic but I prefer wool. I can get it online but I like to see what I am buying. I do spin my own yarn but haven't for over a year due to major damage to my house in a storm. I will be glad to get back to spinning so I can use some for my Addi machine when it arrives.

@@frans3474 Yes, saw the floods on TV. Shocking. The trouble is that every time we have heavy rain or wind I worry what is going to happen, I'm not over the effects yet, my house still looks like a disaster! Were you personally affected by the floods? I hope not.
