I'm having a similar problem with mine, I noticed that my primer bulb is cracked I assume that is the cause of my problem, but I want to thank those folks who brought up the clogged fuel cap vent because I believe that is something many folks skip over and is very important.

Mine did same. I sprayed throttle body cleaner in carb and hit primer bulb 20+ times. Let it soak in there 24 hrs. The diaphragm and jet needles gummed up. She fired up! Got the spline drivers for carb tune. She's a sleeper Fr got her at the flea market $30!

I had the same problem. It was a clogged fuel tank vent! Its the small round part just above the fuel cap. When it gets clogged the tank gets pressurized and creates a vacuum lock

I’ll have to check that. I’ve kinda lost interest in trying to fix it with the cost of parts getting a bit too high. I’ve changed the carb and been looking for a new spark arrester. Only one I’ve been able to find was more than I want to spend on it. Thank you for the idea.

Note that running without the air filter installed changes the air/fuel mixture. So before adjusting any carburetor setting, clean and install the air filter.

Mine would start on full choke but soon as i took it off choke it died. I drained the gas that had been in it for awhile Sprayed carb cleaner in it. Put new 50-1 in it. Still would not run it did start by pumping the ball. But would die soon as that gas ran out. I got tired of fighting that thing on the gas cap so i cut it off. It fired up and ran well. I did have to adjust the idle screw. Yesterday i could not get it to run and the pump ball seemed like it was not getting hard. I could pour a little gas into the carb and it would run until it ran out but would not pick up and run on it's own. Don't know it the carb cleaner, cutting the gas cap thing or what did it for sure but cut a lot of wood following this. And would fire up and run after a couple pulls. I do however pump the ball a couple times before i start it on run. Same saw as the video. Ryobi 16" Have had it a yr. almost two. Have Never had a problem with it before. And have cut some pretty big trees up with it. And still using chain that came on it. I sharpen it with a round chain file.

If the diaphragm that opens the needle valve is crispy, that's likely the problem. Chainsaws are made to operate in any position so a float to operate the needle and seat wouldn't work. The diaphragm senses fuel pressure on the inside of the diaphragm while atmospheric pressure acts through the holes in the diaphram cover. The diaphragm should be soft and supple without leaks. A crunchy crisp diaphragm will cause unstable fuel pressure with unstable flow through the high and low jets. Richening the low speed needle may help followed by readjusting idle speed until its idle is slightly slower such that the clutch is on the verge of moving the chain. Idle mixture should be slightly richer than the needle setting for fastest idle consistent with the chain not moving. This adjustment will only be successful if the diaphragm is in good condition. A crisp diaphragm is typically caused by prolonged exposure to ethanol in the fuel.

@easyvideos6034 that’s awesome that it helped you. I replaced the carb on mine and it’s still having the issues. I’ve got it better with adjustments on the mixture screws but it’s still not right. Every time I think I have it, it just goes back to the original symptoms. Maybe the new carb has a bad diaphragm from the get go. It was an Amazon kit… happy cphank was able to help you out!!

Heck I just bought a brand new one. Same model as yours. It did the same thing right out of the box. After a while I just let it idle. Then the thing took right off. Cut down 3 dead trees in no time. To just test it out. Shut it down and put her back in the shed. Now Im afraid to go back and try to start it back up. Hoping I dont have to deal with this issue all the time.

I have the same problem with my chain saw like yours. Fuel filter is good, carburator ok.might have to change carburetor and see if it works. Chain saw is barely 2 years old and not used much.

Maybe leave it run for a second to warm up. Cant really expect it to run when you jump on the throttle straight away.

I’ve been playing around with the idle mixture and it’s getting better, just being temperamental. During the time of this video it wouldn’t stay running at idle which is why I would give it throttle right away, basically trying to get it to warm up faster. At this point, I still can’t get the idle mixture right so I don’t know if it’s the new Chinese carb (tune up kit) I got that’s the issue or if I just haven’t got the mixture right. Thought I had it a week or so ago cause it fired, idled, reved up and seemed to be working. I shut it off to try a restart and it wouldn’t even restart at that point and just started spewing fuel out of the exhaust… so I put it back on the shelf to try at a later time. I hate giving up on things so sometimes I just take a break from them. Thank you for the advice though, it’s something I’ve pondered as well. I appreciate you watching!

1. All chainsaws even name big name brands 2 stroke leave factory lean lower rpm to comply with government emissions. Every saw I've owned needed the carb adjust especially since I'm at 10,000ft in mountains. 2. NEVER leave gas in a 2 stroke if isn't going be used in a week. Drain it then run it dry till stops. Then fill the tank with the oil you use in mix and prime the lines so is lubrication in primer bulb, fuel lines and carb diaphragm.

It’s the H screw (high side circuit) Turn the H screw in clockwise till it lightly seats. Then back it off 1 1/2 turns counterclockwise. Your fuel/air mix in the carb is off on the high speed circuit. Adjusting that screw will fix your issue

I’ve played around and I got it to where it would stay running. Then I put the spark arrester/muffler back on and it won’t start now, it’s also just dumping fuel. Took the muffler back off and it still won’t start now. Put it back on the shelf to go back to at a later date cause it just got frustrating. So short answer, it did something and ran better for a short time. I’ll eventually go back to it but sometimes you just have to take a break from it.

Well I had 2 problems, with my chainsaw, one line was disconnected and the chain was jammed in the chain guide, so I’m going to get me the original chain for it. It was causing the motor to shutdown,on me.

@@kalvenwilliam2314 after that video I replaced the carb and it did the exact same things. It’s been almost 2 years since I made that video and I’ve since found a different chainsaw at an estate sale that works so I haven’t revisited this one for a while.

Wind out the mixture screw. Clean the port then wind it till it just seats and back it out 2 full turns then adjust from there.
