An awful lot of glee in asking Richard what he was doing. Love it. You guys know you're blessed to be working on something like this with a group, and that makes it fun for me as a viewer. Now then, I'm sure I have a bad starter here on one of mine. Let me know when you're coming to Oregon and I'll even slide a piece of cardboard under the car just for you.

My love of cars comes from growing up as a kid in the 70s out driving around in the country looking for cars. Thanks pops.

Wow, Wow, Wow, That was a really intense situation over a long period of time. Seems like the piston rings eventually came back after all of that cranking and all of those starter swaps and swaps and swaps. To be honest, I think this scenario was a great example of fundamental mechanics covered in that especially once the head was removed and the valves cleaned up where they would seal and with the last carburetor, The situation seemed to greatly improve. That sure was a great call in opening up the exhaust. That engine actually sounded pretty good in the end. I love the sound of those Inline 6 engines and especially the flathead engines. There sure was a lot of great teamwork from everyone to get the Ford running again after all of those years. Great Video As Always.

You're right! The compression came back on all cylinders except #2. That was the one that had the most water damage.
@TheIronDuke502
@TheIronDuke502 Жыл бұрын
@@whattherust Number 2 may still come back after the engine is run a bit more when the engine gets up to a good hot working temperature and the piston rings clear the cylinder bore. The valves may be not sealing properly, So with that engine sitting all those years, Anything is possible.

NOS = New Old Starter. gotta remember that... newer than old, but still older than new. I marveled that the cabin bottoms and the seat bench are still there, after a decade or two with half the windshield missing. there is even moss growing on the dash. and now we know where all the water went, poor gearbox. :P I did wonder about the noise while starting, maybe the gear isn't even fully engaged, and the wheels scrape against each other. but at least they have plenty of wrecks to loot. :) speaking of which, I hope this one gets fixed and restored. especially the boom and gear in the back needs work, I'd say, it does look too small, and has been fixed repeatedly a couple times already. here in germany authorities would have a hissyfit or two about these handmade parts. XD
