Mate, i have many McDonalds. That oil feed pipe from the timing over to the priming cup is original and rare. It is supposed to have a tap and is there to fill the priming cup from the oil pump. I have that setup on a CE that i got from the original owner. All the best .

Hi mate, I’d heard that it may have been a factory fix, and that McDonald techs were making the change on like a warranty fix. I have since out a brass tap in and I build up some oil pressure before opening and slowly rotate to hopefully get some oil to the small end. Not an exactly science but better than nothing I guess. Although if it was used to fill the cup, (this one has been modified and capped off) that would be a better setup I’m sure. I’d love to see that CE. Thanks for the info. Terence 👍🏻

Well if you started out on kerosene and switch it to diesel after it warms up will probably work but you need to switch it back to kerosene for a minute or so before you shut it off so you can restart it on kerosene

Hey mate, the plan is to make a seperate smaller fuel tank to do exactly that. Currently I run it on citronella oil and runs really well! Thanks for watching👍🏻

I found this exact make and model engine in a rubbish pile left by previous owners...I assume it was used to run the Shearing plant in the stone Shearing shed that was built here in the late 1800’s ?

Nice one! They use to run everything! Shearing plants, generators, pumps etc I believe the SE McDonald was marketed to dairy’s to run milking plants etc due to low maintenance requirements. Nice find, you’ll have to get it running now! 👍🏻
