Beautifully made engines built to run until doomsday if they're looked after properly. Nice work!

That's for sure. The mag was in bits for about 6 months ago and is now good to go again!

What is the serial number of your Lister J and how or where did you discover it's date of manufacture? I'm in NZ too! Thanks

Hi there, Off memory the serial is 4911. It's located on the brass tag on the inspection cover. If this is missing it is commonly on the flywheel. You may also find a marine number when it arrived in NZ. If you contact Doreen Edgington, the wife of the late stationary engine author David Edgington (stationaryenginebooks.co.uk). She is able to provide the date it left the factory. Levin & Co were the agents for Lister. Very cool. Lister and the kiwi made Anderson were some of the most common engines in NZ.

@historyboy4723 wow, fantastic! I'm considering a foray into the stationary engine scene and knowing absolutely nothing, the Lester's seem like a great place to start. Thanks again!
