I grew up on one of those,no select speeds nobody wanted them when they were new,we pulled peanut combines with ours they were great tractors

You need to use the clutch to get it moving and when to stop. You can shift between gears as needed with no clutch.

You can get those lower grills new aftermarket for about 100 bucks or so, maybe less. The top aluminum on these pre force tractors is really rare though and unobtanium.

First thing you should check is to make sure there's oil in the injection pump. If there's not you need to put oil in it or it will wear it out fast. The Simms inline pumps take engine oil. It should be changed at every oil change.

@@tmonteIH just for future reference. If you will get a peace of pipe and rip it down the side, just wide enough to slip over the rams on those hydraulic cylinders. It will hold the bucket up while you are working on it, or moving it around. You can cut the pipe any length that you want. If you want to raise the bucket all the way up, then you can cut the pipe to length for that. Because it is better than a 2x4 for safety. When you are working on the tractor if you don't want to take the bucket off, or can't take the bucket off.

Too bad it is already sold, have been looking for a tractor and loader. This one would work very well. Thanks for the video. Looking forward to seeing the 2655 again

Great video here in Ireland 🇮🇪 the Ford 5000 was very popular in the 70s there wasn’t to many seclecto speed as they could be troublesome if they weren’t abused or rushed they worked well

Check the screen/strainer on the cutoff located in the bottom of the fuel tank, common to sludge and stop up.

What r u going to do with all them old tractors in the field
@nevillesmith56439 ай бұрын
You do not need to undo injector lines ,all you do is bleed the injector pump push the cold start button and it will go.

Just giving it the best chance to start. Thanks for the expert advice though.

Do you have pull that transmission apart and I think? It would take like automatic or ETF some sort of ATF or whole drill like fluid for the transmission do not put geroil in it cause. That'll destroy those bands and it's got ceiling rings in there and there's 2 different sites once made in Germany and the other ones remain the U. S so you don't know and even if you measure them they still. Don't you know integrity to put it all by together? I had well part was quite a bit older but i'd select a mattick suck.

Looks much better without the loader. I’ve never been around Fords, is the transmission a power shift?
@tmonteIH9 ай бұрын
Yes it’s a power shift. Called a Select O Speed

Was Select o speed transmission a ford experiment gone bad?
@guyhulscher68579 ай бұрын
Selecto speed as far as I know that the engineer that designed it went to John deere to create their power shift in the 10/20 series. However what I was told by a old JD mechanic may not be 100%.
@fruitfarmfords82439 ай бұрын
@guyhulscher6857 Thats the story I heard from a friend whos dad was a Ford dealer.. Also said it's a good tranny, but needs adjustment now and then, and most didn't get that, people were scared of em, and just ran em till they broke.

@@fruitfarmfords8243They were in development at Ford. They wanted to release it but the head engineer on the project said it wasn’t ready and needed more testing and refining. Ford went ahead and started building them anyway and had all sorts of issues. That engineer then left Ford and went to JD, improved on the S-O-S design and voila, JD had a bulletproof powershift.
