I love those cable pliers. Best invention ever.. the only tip I have for spring clamps is to make sure you get the clamp in the original indentation otherwise they leak 100% of the time sometimes lots sometimes a wee bit, always make sure they line up perfectly or there will be a leak. Something I have learned over 30 plus years as a licensed tech

Quick tip: When reusing a hose that has had a spring clamp on it, like the upper hose on the truck, put the clamp back in the same position on the hose. If you don't, it may leak. Actually, it will leak more often than not. Ask me how I know😅

@ Not good enough for customers cars but your boss told you to do it, 🤡 you are either completely full of Sh, or literally a lemming, as I said before if a hose is old enough to have clamp marks into it, change it, it’s done and the rubber has hardened. Replace it, it costs 30 bucks, cheap azz
@chickenfishhybrid442 ай бұрын
@ni_wink84 in the real world this is alot easier said than done. Alot of times hoses are formed, of an odd size etc and you can't easily come by one even if you want to. Not to mention if the customer can't or won't pay for it. Working on cars for a living is different than wrenching on your own stuff in your garage.

Those type of hose clamp pliers are exceptionally helpful when working in the forklift industry. Lift trucks are always so tight between those thick steel walls in which the engine is tucked in between. Anybody who has ever had to work Under a forklift knows exactly what I'm talking about. I spent 20+ years as a forklift and equipment mechanic. It's very similar to automotive but comes with their own set of difficulties when wrenching.

Same for 1956, but earlier in the year, you could get a 11:1 compression, Duntov solid lifter cam, in the 283, for both cars and trucks. I know, low power stuff today, but back then?, it was smiles per miles. Pretty sure all of those have been found in the junkyard, but you never know. One might be waiting. Good luck at Sema!.

2:42 Mike when you said we're gonna take the old 3 on the tree....that's where I paused...I thought is he gonna do it? Keep a column shift? But then no not gonna happen. I was a little disappointed because for years now I've been wanting to fab whatever it takes to make a factory column shift, like the one that came factory in my 1970 442 (original bucket seat column shift auto car) and make it into a reverse pattern race shifter complete with reverse lockout to make it legal at the track. Only time I've seen this done successfully was the old black 1965 impala by Nick Scavo from Chicago. That was an all steel big block nitrous car that ran deep in the 8s as a street car back in the 90s. I could tell the column lever was billet aluminum with the end turned down to look like a stock shifter with a black end handle but it was all one piece. He shifted that car manually to 8 sec passes...with a column shift! Since then I've always wanted to do the same, mainly in the name of street sleeper, but also just to be different. I figure it's gonna take some kind of fabricated plate with custom detents for reverse manual automatic shifting, and maybe some kind of button for reverse lockout. If anybody reading this is familiar with what I'm throwing down as an idea please get at me with info! Thanks in advance!
