@TheFiercestCreatureInTheWorld6 жыл бұрын
Colin Griffin, I'm pretty sure you can't get liquid sucrose because it decomposes when you heat it, unless you mean a sucrose solution.
@TheZombini6 жыл бұрын
Sucrose can melt. Afaik it starts to burn around 400-450F, but that's how hard candy is made. They melt a bunch of sugar in a vat, add in flavors and colors, mix it, then let it cool. The temperature that the sugar rises to determines the type of candy. Low temperatures can make syrups and taffy, and higher temps make hard candy. But what he meant by liquid sucrose is that they make a saturated solution of sugar in water, although in the US they use corn syrup, which is liquid at room temp anyways.
@TheFiercestCreatureInTheWorld6 жыл бұрын
TheZombini, I thought that when you "melt" sucrose it actually decomposed into fructose and glucose, so hard sweets were actually made of those two sugars rather than sucrose. I might be wrong though.

This video also serves as a damning indictment of the current state of the British rail system.
@aljowen6 жыл бұрын
My guess would be that Barry doesn't know how to get the cheap tickets. Essentially book as far ahead as possible, and try a few discount train tickets website like trainline to see where the cheapest deals are at. I have had 3 hour + return journeys that only cost me around £20 for the whole trip. Pretty sure I once got £15 on that route once. I have still yet to have a situation where the train would cost more than petrol or diesel for an economical car (55mpg UK).
@bhelish6 жыл бұрын
Why go through the hassle when a plane is both faster and cheaper?
@aljowen6 жыл бұрын
@@bhelish because the train might be cheaper if you book tickets via a discount service. It's barely any hassle too, just tell the website where from, where too, and if you want to go back again. It will give you prices. It's less than 1 mins effort. (not to mention the huge environmental impact of flying, plus you still have to purchase train/bus tickets from each airport, depending on location) The UK rail system isn't perfect, and for people who daily commute by train I can understand the complaints. But for one off trips, providing you book in advance, the pricing isn't that bad really. Its just that most people get absolutely shafted on pricing because they buy the most expensive tickets available, simply for not checking to see if there is a cheaper alternative. I commonly overhear people on stations complaining to each other about how much their tickets costed for a 20min journey, and often the price they paid is higher than my 6 hours of transport. Because they bought the tickets on the platform, on the train, or direct at full price.

2 oz of chocolate syrup(or just put how ever much to taste really depends on the brand), 1/2 cup of milk(2% or greater) , 1/2 cup of seltzer water, recipes and instructions may vary but it's the first fizzy drink and can only be consumed immediately to a couple minutes after making ergo why there's never any in stores. but it's kind of a Malt shop classic.

“This fizzy coffee tastes like dirt” “Maybe because it was GROUND this morning”
@gimeli26 жыл бұрын
You should've let the coffee cool down a little more. Gases don't dissolve that well in warm liquids. Also why carbonating changes the taste of certain foods: CO2 is actually a quiet potent carboxylating agent which means it can react to form carboxylic acids on certain functional groups in aromatic molecules hence the change of taste. Also the thought of carbonated milk made me gag, you mad men.

I don't know if Sodastreams are popular enough anymore for stores to keep the cylinders but my local supermarket used to replace the gas cylinder for a few bucks, all you had to do was give the old one in exchange. Obviously a brand new cylinder costs a lot more than a few pounds of gas So definitely cheaper to use tap water and sodastream it instead of buying expensive carbonated water at the store

Quick addendum: as for the milk and the coffee, carbon dioxide is probably not the best thing to infuse it with. If anything, pure nitrogen would be a better shout. If it's possible to get canisters of that size filled with pure nitrogen, THAT is an experiment for Barry to do.
