Will It Start? | 1966 MGB GT Restoration Project Continues

Join me in this short video as we attempt to start my 1996 MGB GT for the first time in several years. The car was purchased unseen and came with no keys and has some very 'bodged' wiring. There's lots to be done on this classic car project, but with a new ignition barrel fitted, levels checked, new battery, and some fresh fuel added, let's see if we can coax the B series engine in to life.

That's great that it starts and runs! Cold engines with choke are not to be revved. MGs are such fun. Mine is 1977 MGB. Best of luck!

Good start . 70lbs oil pressure 👍 First strip and clean the carbs / renew the jets and float chamber needle valves / remove the fuel tank and clean out. I guarantee you'll regret it if you don't, learned this the hard way myself. Looking forward to updates

They don't like too much choke once started, in my experience. Good luck with the project. A thorough service will be a good starting point.

New plugs, maybe leads, clean points firing order, static time, time for advance, tappets, then clean carbs , make sure they are moving dropping, compression check, the old routine, The B should not need a lot of choke, just carbons up the plug up, never rev until the oils pressure up, should run at a 1000 revs with the choke out a 1/4 of an inch.
