Great to see my all time favourite car in the channel, if you finish it, it will be stunning in that colour. Now the engine runs main issue is rust, check the sills, behind the body kit and the jacking points

I’m intrigued to hear using diesel & a bit of oil sprayed down the bores helps release everything up or helps nurse the engine back to life 👍

When jumping an E39 you should connect it under the bonnet not in the boot. The jump connections are under the bonnet so that they are as close as possible to a. the starter and b. the electronics. There is also another sender unit in the left-hand lobe of the fuel tank (the fuel tank straddles the prop shaft).

Rob & Chris, as a fellow content creator, I know where you're coming from. I make my videos in a similar way. I usually concentrate on a specific job on any given car (not always one of my own). That Alpina is crying out for a good clean. It is worth saving due to the rarity alone.
