This Case (David Brown) 1394 has sat outside for 10+ years with the exhaust wide open. With an engine completely full of water, is there any hope of making it start.
Dave's Workshop - from classic cars to heavy machinery, brake rebuilds to engine swaps. More projects to follow.

Well Dave, just come across your channel, we’ve had David brown’s here from the early 80’s, every time I change the filters I have to tow to fire again, something about them they just need that extra bit of spin after bleeding so all’s not lost if she doesn’t fire off the starter! Excellent channel, love this sort of stuff! Keep up the good work, John, Co Tyrone 👍👍

Hi dave, you've got fuel to the injectors but is it come through them, pull one out put it back on the pipe and turn it over see if it's lifting the needles in the injector nozzles, they could be stuck. that said it should have fired on ether, check your air intake for abstructions, ie wasp nest. good luck Barry

When they are stuck like that - its never worth it trying to break them free - just pull the head and check valve seats and cylinder bores. Big end caps off and knock the pistons out - rings will be stuck/rusty/broken and valve seats will be corroded.
@davesworkshop2714
@davesworkshop2714 Жыл бұрын
In an ideal world I'd do that and hone the bores. Given the state of it, I thought I'd see could I just break it free as gently as possible and let the next person do a rebuild 😎. I'm curious as to what compression she has, so I'll do a test and see what it says. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I’ve got 4 990,s 2 will bleed up and start the other 2 will not start. Give them a tow and they will start in a yard. Failing that give them a slight whiff of Easy Start. Your 1394 isn’t turning over fast enough to start. That’s a great example to every tractor owner to drop your sump off, you will be surprised what you find in there.

Thanks David. I did a compression test in the next video and it was away down. I stripped it and found rings stuck and valves not seating. I've done some headwork and fitted new rings, going back together thos coming weekend hopefully! The sumps are so easy to drop on the DBs it really makes sense. Thanks for watching 👍
