I’d say, let Mr. Stan drive it off of his property one last time. He reminds me of my grandpa, who has passed. My grandpa was a master logger and drove big trucks for 50+ years. When I was young, he would take me to the woods with him on the weekends. I would get to talk on the CB and listen to the old truck driving stories. I could sit and listen to Mr. Stan for hours with a smile on my face. Love the videos, Tim!

That got the juices flowing when it almost fired up, haven't seen a 1693 in quite awhile. Here in Washington we had a local lumber mill that ran a fleet of Peterbilts thru the 70's to the 90's with nothing but 1693 cats in them.

I know of two things for sure about trucking after being around it all my 49 years of life, it's very fun to me, to drive the things but it'll also make an old man out of you quick and my dad will even vouch for that but he said he never wants to see another one as far as him owning it or having to drive another one LOL he logged in 56 years and 9 months driving trucks and he's 76 now.. dad has been retired a short time now and he still has a lot of stories he can tell but now he never would do cross country driving and he stayed on the East Coast running North and South and somewhat out towards the West.... Tim I have faith you and your dad and some of your guys will get this truck up and running and fully made over but that trailer is just badass and that son of a gun is worth a fortune in itself

I was taught to drive a semi in 1970 by Mel Davis driving for Big Hun Trucking out of Lakeland Fl. We ran a Peterbilt cabover coast to coast pulling a refer with a 1693 Cat tied to a thirteen speed. My greatest memory of that Peterbilt was passing a Greyhound bus and the passengers look of disbelief as we ran down the interstate. It was one hell of a kitty cat!

Dad had a 1693 Cat in his 1971 Ford cab over. Pulled like a freight train but only ran about 55mph. He was a Caterpillar employee on strike in 1982 when he bought it. The truck was built for Caterpillar and had a GIANT CAT insignia on the interior on the back wall between the seats. By far the nicest interior I’ve ever seen in a Ford semi.

My 73' Peterbilt 352 was originally a 1693 with a 16 speed spicer. Mine still has the 16 speed spicer but now has a 350 Big Cam in it. The truck was originally my grandfathers and he ran it till the 1693 let go and was to much $$$ to repair and that was back in the 80s. They were a great engine but boy they are spendy and hard to find certain parts. I still have some parts in our truck shop for them. Most i have seen were painted Cat white. Good luck getting it up and running and back on the road.

A 1693 was a good engine they was extremely heavy you had to have a stack of spring to hold it up and you couldn’t put jakes on them and they made two different 1693 one was for equipment the other one for trucks usually the truck engine had more horsepower you would think the equipment one would have more but they didn’t my brother had two of them engine one came out of a loader the other come out of my uncles peterbuilt cab over good luck with it keep up the good work

Hey Tim, I reckon that when you paint the truck, it’d be super cool to name it “Stan Harvey’ & use the same lettering as on the doors!!!!!
