Parker and Skip are intentionally confusing the argument in a dishonest way. They're comparing the east during Lebron's 6 straight Finals runs to the competition MJ faced in the 80s. But MJ didn't make any Finals runs in the 80s. All of MJ's Finals runs happened from 1991-1998. Bird's Celtics, Magic's Lakers and Isiah's Pistons were no longer great teams in '91 when MJ won his first title. So the argument should about the level of Eastern Conference competition from 1991-93/1996-98 for MJ versus the level of Eastern Conference competition from 2011-2017 for Lebron. But they don't want to do that because it will show their blatant MJ bias. When you compare MJ's championship teams to the rest of the Eastern Conference in those years, it's obvious he had a cakewalk to the Finals every year. Furthermore, since MJ had the only super team in the NBA during his championship years, he also had a cakewalk opponent in every Finals he played in.
@C2Poke7 жыл бұрын
Daz - That Orlando Magic team was NOT in their prime. That is another lie that gets repeated often. When MJ's Bulls swept them in '96, Penny Hardaway was only 24 years old and Shaq was only 23 years old. Shaq didn't hit his prime until he went to the Lakers.
@C2Poke7 жыл бұрын
Daz - It's time for you MJ lovers to get out of your feelings. You want to have a GOAT discussion where EVERYONE gets nitpicked to death except MJ. That's bulls**t. You can't have a real GOAT discussion without nitpicking MJ too. KD/Russ/Harden/Ibaka may have been "babies", but they were all on the same team, and they were FAVORED to beat the Heat in the 2012 Finals. Barkley was by himself. Ewing was by himself. Miller was by himself. Stockton and Malone didn't have much help. Shaq and Penny were also "babies". Russ/KD/Harden are better than all those guys except Shaq - and Lebron had to face them when they were all on the same team. How the f**k can you hate on that?
@C2Poke7 жыл бұрын
Daz - The proof is in your actions. If you were a NBA fan, and not a MJ lover, you'd be able to appreciate the greatness of other players. You wouldn't be so dismissive of other players accomplishments. I've been a NBA fan for 37 years. I've seen the entire NBA careers of the guys you argue about. I speak what I know, not what the media wants me to think. MJ is an all-time great. He is arguably the GOAT. But people need to stop worshipping at the man's altar so much that we can't even appreciate how great Lebron is. People give a lot of lame excuses for why they hate Lebron. But the real reason he gets so much hate, is because he is the first real threat to MJ's mythical GOAT status. And that's a damn shame.

Can't forget rick mohorn the won they use to call the baddest off everyone on that team because of how physical he was he left that team in 89. the celtics were good for their age but the most points they averaged when they had to play Jordan and not to mention they couldn't play defense like they use to

So Jordan gets credit for the work of a GM as well now? Its not LeBron's fault the Cavaliers were so inept they never got him a Scottie Pippen or Dennis Rodman, he gave them 7 solid years and they gave him nothing in return. So he forced it himself. If Jordan was on that Cavaliers team maybe he wouldn't have left... but he also wasn't chasing the ghost of the legend of MJ under pressure to win rings and if he had stayed he by all likelihood would have 0 rings to show for his loyalty and would not go down as the GOAT. I get why it rubs people the wrong way but think about it, we all knew he was chasing greatness, he wasn't going to sacrifice his legacy for blind loyalty to an organisation that couldn't deliver what he needed, the decision was their fault not LeBron's.
@azikkii7 жыл бұрын
LeBron had to get through an all time Celtics team with Rondo, Pierce, Allen and KG which took him a while actually, the Pacers who had Stephenson, George and Hibbert were a matchup nightmare for the Heat and then you had the Bulls with a healthy Derrick Rose/Butler and a lock down defense. LeBron has played through some very intense Eastern Conference defensive grindy teams.

its not so hard to understand the difference here.these players didnt join opponent superstars to make a superteam(exept shaq who admitted himself that he was a ring chaser).jordan didnt team up with magic,bird,barkley,dominique,drexler,isiah etc to join forces and win a championship.he wanted to win against them.lebrom joined miami and when he saw that miami is not gonna last more he went back to cleveland cause of kevin love and irving.if cleveland didnt have those players lebron would be somewhere else.
@jigeahah50587 жыл бұрын
juventinos81 but lebron already played his best in that 7 year period and still the front office won't support him. You know no player can beat the entire NBA alone with no good players around him. But in Jordan's case, he had a good coach, good front office, he had no reason to pull off what lebron did. And in that era, star players are scattered, yea there's a lot of HOF calibre players at that time but teams then has 1 at most 2 HOF but the Bulls itself has 3, and the Bulls team itself is great without him and teams without lebron is straight trash. I'm just saying tho and not taking anything away from Jordan at all.

Frank Swain they were old. LeBron never faced a power team except the Celtics who were on their last legs. Same with the Pistons. Jordan faced with Celtics and Pistons in their prime. Boston was good for three years and declined due to age.

Lebron played the celtics. The magic with Howard in his prime. Played wade. Played melo. Played a good pacers team with hibbert. Played the pistons with Hamilton, Chauncey, the wallaces, and prince. Played a good bulls team with rose.

Celtics with Big 3, 60-win Bulls with MVP Rose, 60-Win Hawks... all very good teams. And don't forget earlier in his career when he had to face the championship Pistons with Billups, Rasheed, Tayshaun and co.

Lebron is the greatest athletes i ve seen ever, and i lived in the Jordan era, tracy mcgrady was a nasty great player, he was a mix of durant and kobe, if only he stayed healthy, do people really watch live basketball, or they just see highlights at the end of the games!!!

Another idiot statement by a kid who only saw Lebron. Fact: Jordan played against more HOF competition (absoultely loaded, tough squads in the 80s/90s), won more, played in an actually competitive Eastern conference, dominated competition in an era of hard fouls, and did it all in less time (shorter career) than LJ. Today's NBA is a watered down JOKE version of what it used to be (thanks to CBA, rule changes beginning in 2000)

Check this competition out: The 1998 Utah Jazz, on their run to the NBA Finals, had to beat an 8th seeded Rockets team featuring Olajuwon, Barkley, and Drexler. Their 2nd round opponent was the Spurs with David Robinson and Tim Duncan. In the West Finals, they beat Shaq and Kobe's Lakers, and then finally fell in the Finals to Jordan and co.

Why are the Big 3 Celtics, Pacers, and Bulls all of a sudden not "true" competition now? The Celtics took the Heat to 7 games, the Pacers took the Heat to 7 games, and the Bulls were the #1 eastern team who won 62 games. You guys didn't even bring up *before* LeBron joined the Heat, when the Pistons and Celtics were killing the Cavs. I'll admit the last 4 years have been a cake walk, but don't act as if the east has always been easy.
@mma997 жыл бұрын
If it's so easy why aren't other superstars making it to the finals every year? Don't punish Lebron for being better than his competition. Look at east teams records vs west teams, the east isn't as weak as people think. Show me a west player making it to the finals that consistently. Just because they can't do it doesn't automatically mean it is easier for Lebron.

Shannon made the point that it was Isiah Thomas' 11th year considering he played for 13 then yeah it can be considered old. Technology and medicine wasn't as advance as it is today so athletes today are playing longer
@ss4gogeta057 жыл бұрын
ZeusThe10 a lot of players play at a high level way after their 11th season. Shannon did get destroyed. I'm glad somebody finally corrected him on constantly saying the Pistons were old. The Bulls made them look old and people always want to make excuses for losing like being injured and not at 100%. Nobody would have called them old if they won. So were they old the year before when they won the Finals? Everybody with sense knows that Lebron has not faced any real competition in the East. The competition he did face he get rid of it by teaming up with Wade, Bosh, and taking Allen from the Celtics.
@randomguy37117 жыл бұрын
If you make the argument that it was more physical, then you admit that their body's could take but so many years back then. So they were old for their times as players.

Any way you look at it, both conferences have just as many stars and potential future HOFers as each other. I wouldn't shun those old Piston teams LBJ faced, the Celtic teams, the ATL teams. Pacers and Magic were some tough battles. Not to mention the Heat LBJ didn't really have to face post season. Who has been in the West over the last 14 years? GSW, Mavericks, Spurs, Lakers. You can toss in the OKC Thunder and Suns for a potential tough battle as well. That's about it. Both conferences stack up evenly, Lebron is just that great. Rockets are playing well this year, that's about it.
