I met will accidentally at a Music Store in Danbury, CT.. He got into talking with me in the store and asked me to step outside the store so we could chat a bit more. He actually said to me "There's The Beatles and then there's everyone else."

I could not agree more with what Will said about the Beatles. There is so much hyperbole when we talk about the great artists of the past, but in the case of the Beatles, it's not exaggeration. Their evolution from neighborhood skiffle band, to hard working club band, to recording covers of their favorite songs, to writing their first songs of their own, and then the unbelievable progression of their musical style (all of which broke from accepted conventions and moved the consciousness of kids like me to new realms) was astounding by any measure. A Hard Days Night, Help, Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Pepper, the White Album, Abbey Road, Let It Be. Every single one of these albums not only broke new ground, but birthed a new musical genre in perfected form. After you heard each album, you were changed. It rearranged your mind and maybe your DNA because you were never the same person musically again. Now we look back on all these albums as classics but most people who weren't there when they were initially released take them for granted. But the sheer creative power the Beatles showed album after album after album, bringing totally new music into being, was and remains unparalleled. It was magic for those of us who were there to witness it. And may I just say for those who like to pit the Rolling Stones legacy against the Beatles legacy, please just shut up. The Rolling Stones were a great band and one of the longest running concert bands in history, but comparing the artistry of the Stones to the Beatles is like comparing Andy Warhol to Leonardo Da Vinci. Even Stones fans would admit that much of their output was schlock. They didn't define genres, they chased whatever genres were popular. They were, and to some extent still are, a great band with a lot to be commended for. But they were not in the same class as the Beatles. Nobody is, and perhaps no band will ever be. As Will says, the Beatles produced the greatest musical legacy of the past 100 years. Thank you for the wonderful Will Lee interview. He said everything I feel about the Beatles and said it better than I ever could. I'd love to hear more. You should interview him again. I'm sure he has much more to say.

Until he said it, not one word was uttered in the comments on this video, not one. I said here Steve, and didn’t mean anywhere else. I’m plenty old enough to know as much about this “rivalry” as much as anyone. The truth of which is that it is, and always has been among the fans and critics instead of the artists, because it is they who make these comparisons. Which in my opinion are Juvenile and pointless. I’m not trying to belittle anyone. He made a statement and I replied in kind. If Joe takes issue with something I’ve said, I’ll respond, and I’m sure Mr. Gray is perfectly capable of defending himself.

I’ve watched him on the Letterman Show nut know nothing about him. But I’ve had a great respect for him. To do what he does, shift without any effort from one genre to another effortlessly is an amazing trait. I say ‘trait’ because it’s in his persona to love a vastly huge amount of different music that he’s absorbed all his life that he knows what each song requires. And it’s not just technique. It’s the love for the song that also needs to be given it. His passion for The Beatles is quite obvious. Thank you another great interview Joe. Now, onto part 2! Robert

I was able to see Will 3 times when I went to see Letterman. Once at Radio City, twice at the Ed Sullivan Theater. First time at the Sullivan Theater (Will was playing a Hofner) I kept staring at the stage thinking about February 9, 1964 and the history that was made there that night, elbowing my cousin every two minutes telling him. History that would alter my life and I didn't even know it. Maybe because I was only seven. Next time during a commercial break, the band with Will on vocals played the great Bill Withers (RIP) song Lovely Day. Will nailed it. Oh yeah I kept staring at the stage, I remember it was around February 9th. Difference this time, I was elbowing my girlfriend who along with my step daughter has had to endure my Beatlemania for many years. Was hoping to finally see the Fab Faux the spring at the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY, incredible concert venue, but Covid took care of that. Enjoyed the interview. Keep Rockin' Joe.

"This Boy" certainly follows a standard Doo-Wop chord progression, but the lyrics and perspective of the song are different and pointing to a new realm of pop music. It's a Doo-Wop template but sounds new and original. It's hard to explain. The song has the elements of talent and genius!

I love Will Lee. I also found a band out of the Netherlands called " THE ANALOUGES " . They are right up there with the FAB FAUX. But they have to do everything in a second language. Makes me appreciate them even more. They are on YOU TUBE. You just have to do a simple search. They have the original recording notes from the studio work on exactly what instruments were being used. And they use those exact instruments. Going as far as to get a Mellowtron that was the next serial number next to Paul's. They performed SGT. PEPPER in it's entirety on the 50th anniversary. Also THE WHITE ALBUM. Both are on YOU TUBE along with a documentary on how they find instruments and break down songs note by note. Watching the documentary and hearing them speak Dutch. And seeing them perform in English astonished me. Got me more interested in what they do. Give them a look.

My wife & I met The Faux their first year together at The Basie Theater in Red Bank NJ, the first of 23 more different venues we saw them in. I always knew about Will, cause he does a lot of studio work plus him playing on Letterman. I know he’s a great bass player, but listen to him sit down with an acoustic Martin and do Blackbird. George Harrison is one of the most under rated guitarists in rock history (along with Malcolm Young.) --- A distant cousin of mine, Steve Landes, is "John Lennon" in the Beatles tribute band "RAIN". --- Trumpet was my first instrument, my hero was Al Hurt. Till I heard Muddy Waters on the AM radio in 1963 and fell in love with blues. Later that week I bought a used guitar at a garage sale and started to learn to play.

I was watching Sullivan that night in Feb. 1964 when the Beatles changed the world. There was a radio station (think it was out of Cleveland) played only Beatles for an hour every night. Listened on my little transistor radio in E. Tenn. The Beatles are unique in that no two songs sound alike. Love your interviews, and just subscribed.

Every musician I know can do a Beatles accent AND you find yourself using Liverpool slang like "By all means I can be ready for any eventually.." AND if you are a drummer auditioning foe any rock band a;; you have to do is a decent inmitation of Ringo's Hi Hat Buttering .. and what looks like a silly affectation does give you such depth because the HH sounds diferent in each direction

John and Paul would go into NEMS record store and go directly to the record labels section that specialized in offering US songs for oversees consumption. That's where they got many of their obscure songs and B sides that they arranged for their live act. When Brian first got to know the Beatles he said to John and Paul, ah, you're the ones who kept auditioning records in the booth.

I once saw the Fab Faux at Berklee Performance Center in Boston. I waited then watched intently for all those Sgt. Pepper strange sounds and vocal performances. Will and his band did not disappoint. Very passionate deliveries of some of the most off the wall Beatles tunes echoed throughout the hall that night. Very excellent band these guys made up.

If that Boston gig was Oct. 4, 2008, I was there!!, gr8 gig, awesome sound, seems like they played almost 3 hrs., they had an intermission, I thought it was over, so I go down to see if the sound guy would give me the set list, he told me they were taking a break & would be back in about 15 min., told me he would give it to me after the gig, he kept his word. Met Will after a Letterman show, got a photo with him, met all the Letterman show band members at 1 time or another, got photos with all of them. 1 time Paul S. was out sick, Warren Zevon subbed 4 him, got to meet him also & Letterman!!, saw Fab Faux again in D.C. about 6 months later at the Warner Theatre. ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've seen the Fab Faux a few times over the years and they are fantastic. My favorite was seeing them do the White Album in its entirety from start to finish, including Revolution #9. Hope to see them again soon when the pandemic is under control.

WLS AM radio in Chicago had a DJ named Dick Biondi, who played The Beatles before any other radio station in the country. I knew when I heard Please Please Me in early 63 as a 6 year old, that they were better than any artist around at that time. Will Lee and his band are performing these songs as a tribute to the greatest band we will never see again.
