Will Metal Sonic be created by G.U.N? x Movie Talk

I was concerned about there being more than one Metal Sonic but maybe they're doing Metalix. Hopefully, it will deliver on what Age of Ultron failed to do: a dystopian future ruled by robots.

My theory is that whoever was in charge of G.U.N during the flashbacks in the third movie sent Metal Sonic, because they established that they were trying to take Shadow from the Robotniks and we don’t know why. Considering Sonic is the same species as Shadow, they might be after him.

Definitely possible, but with the moon destroyed they can just blame Sonic and his friends for that. The moon being destroyed is something I think will have a huge impact on the next movie. Anything is possible though. Sonic 4 has the potential to be even better than Sonic 3, just comes down to how they execute on it.

Why would they need to frame Sonic for crimes though? They are the goverment, they can just arrest him. Humans don't know he exists so it's not like they need to ruin his public image.

It seems to me that Metal generally came from the future, the method of its appearance is very similar to Terminator. It would be cool if Silver appeared in all 4 films.

​​​​@@christianxkaizen Yeah, most likely it should be Jim playing his more evil counterpart, considering that Jim's portrayal of Gerald is how Eggman Nega would normally act like in the games. So I guess Gerald in the Sonic movies is kind of a "small sample" or maybe a foreshadowing of how Eggman Nega would act like, before we actually see him appear in the movie universe.

I dont think they'll interpret any future stuff and then adding silver like everyone theorizes and I don't think metal sonic will even turn neo but ill be glad to be wrong. We are at little information than we had the last 2 movies. The chaos emeralds are gone and somewhere out there, shadow is on a different planet, and amy coming out of who knows where. The only things we can speculate about is well, why Metal Sonic and where amy came from. I think she is gonna be shown traveling with the rings and we could possibly assume we'll get another "prequill" comic because we had no Idea what was going on. The reason why there wasn't one for sonic 3 was because we had a base idea of what was going on and it can easily be explained in the movie.

I don't think they will go with the time travel stuff either (for this movie at least). Implementing the Time Stones could be confusing with the Chaos Emeralds for casuals. Shadow is on a different planet though? I thought he landed on Earth? What's the "prequill" comics? I never heard of that.

@christianxkaizen it's an official comic prequel that came out before sonic 2. It was essentially a comic that showed where knuckles came from, who were the humanoid henchmen behind him, where agent stone has went, tails purpose, etc. all arcs were basically mini adventures. knuckles arc is probably the most interesting as it basically confirmed a widespread of worlds and sonic like background characters kinda like boom sonic and it makes the rings very relevant and something not only sonic has. Also it confirms that the chaotix are canon to the movies in a form of an Easter egg. Not literally of course

I have a really crazy theory for Metal Sonic. Sonic even mentions "You got a few details wrong". What if Movie Metal Sonic isn't Movie Metal Sonic and rather the games Metal Sonic or just an alternate Metal Sonic from a different universe?

I definitely feel that. I want the movies to be as canonically close to the games as possible, and Metal has always been created by Eggman. But since Eggman is dead and had a whole character arc it wouldn't make sense for him to go from saving the world to trying to kill Sonic again. I think what could work is that GUN finds the blueprints of Metal (created by Eggman as a contingency plan) or they just find Metal Sonic and use him for their own purposes. Blueprint part probably makes more sense because there's multiple copies of him now.

Eggman Nega also created his own version of Metal Sonic in Sonic Rivals 2, so he might be the creator of the Metal Sonics we saw in post credits scene of Sonic Movie 3.

Fr I had the same though about Metal when I saw the scene! GUN certainly doesn't like Sonic so I see why they would play fire with fire and make their own "sonic" to neutralize him. Although tbh I don't really see how Amy will fit in the movie (since her usual role of "giving hope" has pretty much already been fullfilled by other characters), but I'm optimistic that they'll make it work. I think the movie will be fusion of CD with Heroes' ending, Shadow hopping in to help against Metal Overlord. My friend however thinks that the movie is going to go into a alternate universe or time travel route, since there's time warping in CD, I personally doesn't like that teory that much but that may be because I don't like those tropes in general (I think they make things too messy).

Yea bro and especially wit the landmarks being destroyed, Sonic and friends could be seen as dangerous to society. Maybe that's what's been leading up in the past 3 movies. Killing off Eggman and Jim Carrey already stating he's "retired" could also lead to a new antagonist arc, possibly being GUN. Maybe that's what they were hinting at in the Sonic 3 movie? "I knew they couldn't be trusted" shows there's already disdain for Sonic and his friends discretely. I also agree with you I don't know how Amy will be important in the next film, but she will definitely have some drama scenes with Sonic that will make the movie funny. She could also be working with other people like the Chaotix, since she was portrayed to already have been on Earth (we don't know when yet) compared to the cutscene in Sonic 1 when Tails jumped through the ring. Could be a stretch. Shadow's role might be low, but I think you're right about him helping out against the Metal Overlord. If anything he has his own story in the movie that will lead him to the climax of the movie to help Sonic and friends. I don't like the idea of time travel, I think they should save that for when Silver is introduced (since his whole character is associated around time travel). And plus introducing the time stones could be confusing for the casuals.

@@christianxkaizen Yeah it'll be interesting to see what GUN and society thinks about the destruction and recovery, I don't think we've seen anything like that in the games (though granted the games don't have to focus on that aspect). The only problem I see is that I don't think GUN being the enemy would work for more than one movie, unless Rockwell becomes the next main villain on her own for the next and GUN becomes neutral again, Sonic already has some connections w GUN (Rachel and Randall, even if Rachel doesn't like Sonic that much, I think she'd help for Maddie) and there are probably some people in there who might like Sonic a little bit, thus creating a whole rebellion from within. I think "Sonic vs the World" might be too much for just one movie and I don't know if it's a good idea to extend the franchise after that, 4 is a good number to close things imo, 5 max. It would be cool to see the Chaotix, but like Silver I think they might be harder to pull off, especially considering we still have the human characters to deal with (even if some of them don’t do much) it could get really cluttered really easily. I don’t know if the Knuckles series would include them either, the series are a nice addition but I personally wouldn’t like if they do the Marvel thing and make you watch the series or else you won't understand the movie. As for Rouge, I think I once heard in an interview that they didn’t include her because her character draws too much attention and they might not be able to deal with it, which considering how the fandom behaves sometimes is understandable.

@@a-kai3818 I feel like GUN could be an enemy of Sonic and friends more based on a misunderstanding standpoint, like how they kind of did with Knuckles in Sonic 2 (misconception). We've already seen Rockwell going after Sonic's crew because of what happened to General Walters (even though it wasn't there fault). The moon getting destroyed could solidify the opposition since they can just put the blame on Sonic and his friends (Knuckles and Tails did help steer the beam into the moon). You're probably right about the Chaotix, them being side characters and all (I'm hopeful they make it 😂). Other side characters like Rouge could be saved for spinoffs like if Shadow gets a movie or something. I really can't see them ending the series here though. Sonic vs the world could kind of extend for 2 movies a little, with the conflict concluding in Sonic 4 or 5 (when they go back home). Sonic 3 felt a little rushed to me, so they could extend the runtime to like 2 hours and 10 minutes to execute the story right. Silver has to have a whole movie dedicated to him, otherwise things would be rushed if they included him in Sonic 4. I really can't see them missing an opportunity of including Silver in the Sonic movie franchise; especially since he's a widely loved character in the Sonic fanbase.

@@christianxkaizen I went to look up what the length of the third movie was because I agreed with your sentiment and I didn't realize it was only 1 hr 50 mins! I too had the feeling it was a bit rushed so it's curious to know that it's actually shorter than the 2nd movie, but at least that explains why the opening sequence felt a bit fast to me I think. Sonic returning to Mobius (or Earth fusing with Mobius?) is really when the movies will end, I just hope they don't stretch things out too much because I don't want the movies to become a cashgrab :') I would still watch them, but yeah I wouldn't like to see Sonic butchered like that. And about Silver, I love the guy too and of course he should appear more! But I also feel that since 06 wasn't that well liked and Silver hasn't appeared much in the games either, his backstory is a bit niche for people outside the games, plus the fact that in Silver's future Sonic is dead iirc + Sonic dying in 06 for a bit, I don't think producers would like to include those parts much since the movies are still aimed at a kid audience. I guess we'll see what they have planned for the 4th movie. I'm looking forward to see what explanation they'll give to Metal and Amy (and I also have my own theory of Amy perhaps redeeming Metal? Since she is compassionate even to machines, she could override Metal's hate for Sonic or something, it's very far fetched but eh guess we'll see)

@@a-kai3818 The directors handled Maria's death well; the scene being emotional while not graphic. They could handle Sonic's death in the same way or go another route like they have in the movies. If there is a Sonic 5 movie, I think it best should involve them returning to their world. The ending of Sonic 06 could take a similar effect in Sonic 5 (almost like it was all a dream), even though it's an unpopular ending received by fans. As for Silver, I can definitely agree with your logic. But if SEGA wants to make Silver marketable, this is probably their last big chance (unless he gets a new game or something) for a while. If they introduce anything time travel related I feel like it's imperative for Silver to be involved. That's why I think Sonic 5 will be the grand big finale, with all the characters from the other movies and spinoffs in this final one to get back home. But 3 new characters for Sonic 4 in one movie might be too much. Kind of goes back to your point on the Chaotix and how things might be too "cluttered" for the plot.

Maybe part of Gerald's agreement with G.U.N. was to create Metal Sonic or provide blueprints. Gerald did give G.U.N. the blueprints of the Eclipse Cannon and he said they made it pretty well on their own in the Sonic 3 movie (to paraphrase).

Here's what we can consider. - It was a previous project of Eggman that was never completed and Agent Stone decides to finish it. However it would be out of his character to send a killing machine(s) after Sonic. He dislikes them but not to that extent. - The moon being destroyed will probably be a major plot point in the next movie. G.U.N. will probably blame Sonic and friends for it. If commander Walters is truly dead I think Agent Rockwell would take over and do whatever it takes to stop Sonic and his friends. - Metal Sonic coming from the future is something we've never seen in the games (if I last recall) so the movie would be going into the unknown. Also cant see how that would make sense plot wise since in the game Eggman always creates Metal Sonic and he's "dead" in the movies now. The blueprints for Metal Sonic would've had to be already created by Eggman and replicated by someone else (hence multiple Metal Sonics)
