Steve, I was pleasantly surprised after Huell Howser passed to find out that all of his old videos have been made available for free through Chapman University. He left his entire video library to them, which they now maintain. Since you do have soooo much walking history of Palm Springs, maybe talk to the local PS schools or the local PS historical committees to see if they may be interested in being named as beneficiary to ensure that your videos stay well maintained & monitored and that any & all funds generated go to that school or committee. It may sound funny now but many, many decades from now when we are all gone, your videos will still be appreciated (maybe even more) because people in 2080/2090/2100+ will see how “old” Palm Springs was like in the early 2000’s.

I've wondered about this as well. The only people that I could leave my channel to would be my nephews but I doubt they'd be interested in continuing with it. I've subscribed to a few channels where the creator had passed away. Their videos continue to play but I don't know who owns them. Sometimes the creator just stops uploading and we never find out what happened to them and that's always a strange feeling.
@steveinpalmspringsca3 күн бұрын
That's sad to hear. Your channel has almost 100K subscribers. Surprised your nephews wouldn't want the ad revenue. I guess everyone has their own thing these days. It is sad when they stop posting and you wonder if they are still alive. I have one channel that I watch where that recently happened. :-(
@outsider2383 күн бұрын
@steveinpalmspringsca I'm hoping they'll take it over when the time comes. I've had some channels that I subscribe to where the creator passed away as well. Thank you for taking the time to make this and answer my question Steve. It's very much appreciated and interesting that you have thought about it as well. Although I should have known that you were already thinking about it. As I was saying prior, as long as you leave your password email etc for your channel(s), all someone would have to do is go in and change the information, bank account, email etc. That person doesn't even have to make future videos. They would just collect any revenue from your videos. A lady friend of mine passed away several years ago and her channel is still an asset to her husband. And it is an asset that you have that could and should be passed down, in my humble opinion. There are channels that are up and going, years after the creator has passed. All the ones that I go back and watch, still have ads. And I've found channels after the creator has passed. They still come up as recommend videos and they still come up if you search YT on a particular subject matter. My thought process on this matter is the following... You have so many informational videos Steve, I don't know if you are fully aware of that aspect. And with all the hours of work you have put into your videos, from researching the background information, editing and especially the cost associated with making them from gas to hotels etc, will still be informational down the road. It just seems (to me anyways), that it would be such a waste to delete them all. That would be similar to a librarian throwing away books! With that said, I truly enjoy you and your personality, as well as the elusive Jim! It's almost a given that you will trail off in your thoughts on a video and laugh at yourself as you say..."here I go again, getting of the topic"! It wouldn't be you if you didn't, and be concerned about you if you didn't! You must keep yourself healthy and live another 20 years. Even if you only post a short video every now and again. Keep on walking and peace...
@steveinpalmspringsca2 күн бұрын
Hi Stacy, I agree with everything you said. Unfortunately, as I said in the video, I don't have anyone in my life who is interested in my channels or in preserving them when I'm gone. So, maybe they will remain up and maybe not. I'll never know lol. :-) So, I'm just enjoying them while I'm alive. :-) Thanks for asking the question. It helped me finally come to the sad realization that some things really are just out of my control! :-O For a controlling person, that's not always easy to admit or accept. :-)

Honestly, it had occurred to me, but I don't like to think about it. I enjoy watching your walks and listening to your thoughts and knowledge. I hope to keep watching you for at least another 15 years, that you'll still feel great, and want to keep doing what you do. I had wondered what had happened to Mason. Maybe when he gets older, he'll be more interested in making videos. Some channels, like yours, with forever videos would be great for their value, eventually even for historical value. In 50 years, these videos may be like seeing TV shows, commercials, or news broadcasts from the 90s are today.

Hi, Steve ! I usually don't comment, I just watch ( both channels) with so much enthusiasm because of your storytelling abilities. Your channels should not be deleted ever because, believe it or not it has a historical significance because of your narrating, people in the future will look up names of famous celebrities and politicians etc. ... and find your information to give them the load down in a " nut shell " so imagine ... there will be Google, Duck, Duck and then there's, Steve's channels with so much insight on so many things. If, I were ask to continue with your channels, I would have been delighted, but unfortunately I'm to old, 😊 very old. So, it should be discussed every chance you get ( don't be in a hurry) with the soul purpose of finding the right person to continue your legacy. Having said that, I wish you and Jim, the best of health and a long life of happiness also continued success in the future and always. 🎅🎄❄️🤶

On a side note, my wife and I have 4 grown children and we all met to go over our trust/will and ask them while we are alive if there is anything in particular they wanted and to give us any feedback. Organizing a business around distribution of residual income to charity, where the charity pays the fee to the payment distribution company for the service.
