Nikon is a Mitsubishi group company, the largest conglomerate in Japan. So, it will not go bankrupt. As a side note, Fujifilm is a Mitsui group, another big group.

I did mention this at 01:53 in the video and thanks for the insight. Its also my understanding that the corporate culture in Japan is such that the country would not allow it to fail even if it were to have to stand on its own. Such a funny concept for westerners to consider. Thanks for watching and clarifying!

A few days after you made this video, Nikon has just released the D.780, and I think they will do very well out of this camera.

Phillip, yes the D780 is a very promising camera... They will almost definitely make a bunch of money on the D6 as well! There's some rumors about a more professional Z camera coming out pretty soon as well... It's in the better interest of everyone in the photographic community for Nikon to stick around making products and progressing technology! Thanks for the comment... I have a good track record of making videos right before a huge announcement... This one was about one day before!

And mybe this completely stupid idea : The Bulky D6 (or DX 26Mp sensor of the XT-3 in a D500 style body) with F-mount , IBIS , EVF no OVF, no full mirror but only the small transulent AF mirror on a small light weight carbonfiber arm that flips only for the AF-CAM AF module like a normal DSLR af system(16, maybe far more fps could be possible becouseof this far lower weight then the full old school mirror, the shorter arm has a far lower mass inertia can reach higher flipping speeds), simultaneously the on-sensor AF system can "fill the gaps" in tracking calculations when the AF flipping mirror is up, 2 AF systems for tracking, it can measure the distance between background(on sensor AF) and subject (cam module)when the AF systems are activated, creating a short split second 3D depth scan proces, grabbing the wished subject instantly instead of a some trees in the back that draws the unwished attention, If the subject is beyond the DSLR AF points, the on sensor points can take over to the edges like a z6/7 ,the on sensor AF for video with the DSLR af mirror arm up. if that could be technical possible, Nikon will have instantly on release the system with the most lenses, the needed powerful DSLR cam-Module AF system for sports and in the mirrorless game at te same time. the Z's are not ready yet for sports and it can buy some time for developing a Z-pro camera, keeping the pro-customers and wildlife shooters on board with the long expensive primes.

I can't see Nikon really messing with the D5 very much for it's replacement... These cameras are too important for the type of people that shoot them... They will make very conservative changes to that lineup for many years to come... Maybe they'll develop a mirrorless replacement for it at some point, but I doubt they'll call it a D camera and it definitely wouldn't be F-mount.... I think if these types of shooters were open to this type of camera, they probably would have considered an A9 or A92... You just don't see many of them leaving Canon or Nikon and either of these companies would be crazy to do anything to push these shooters away... I mean they generally own two or three flagship bodies and many lenses at any given time! Thanks for the input!

We in our wildlife group have tested the A9 + 400mm f2.8 + TC1,4x , in tracking birds in flight it is superior to the 1DX2/D810/D750/D850, the D5 and D500 did get closer to the hitrate in a row (also 400mm + 1,4x was used in both cases ) A9 dis had some blackout at 20fps and 560mm..the eye on the EVF , your own reaction time , moving the lens combo , we did get problems folowing the bird, you needed to go to the mechanical shutter, 5fps so at the time Nikon did best.. If Nikon could have a combination of a D5 / D500 + A9, EVF , the DSLR AF system + Onsensor AF , 14/16 fps with mechanical shutter , artificial intelligence in tracking , on F mount buidquality of Nikon , the A9 is not interesting anymore , if Nikon use the OVF + flipping mirror , mirrorless Sony's wil take over.. Nikon's Z Af system is not on par, only the mecanical weakness does stop us from buying Sony, we need proven ruggedness , in extreme circumstances. The A9mk2 is a stupid upgrade, 24Mp = cropped at DX 10Mp In terms of resolution at a distance the D850/D500 is what we need.. 20MpDX.. almost every shot is cropped in wildlife.. A7R4 61Mp + 200-600 is tested(10fps!), the lens is not sharp enough to resolve the resolution.. We tink if Nikon has a F mount mirrorless option , with the D500 AF power or better, EVF with no blackouts that is the main reason! , large buffer, 12/14/16 fps No FTZ , we will buy it Nikon can have it all, best in sports/action, best in video, having the most lenses instantly..

@@kaak4737 I would say that you have much more experience than I in using the D500 for it's best intended purpose... I bought the d500 because it can do those things if/when I need it to... The D850 is my ideal camera, but it seems to me that for what you're talking about using it for, you need to use it with the vertical grip... That seems like it may be a hindrance to me? The buffer could also be a problem in certain shooting situations... Yes, you have a good point about the resolution of the A9/2 after cropping, but thats why so many sports/wildlife shooters will choose crop.... I've heard of and talked to more than a couple who use a D500 with one lens and a D5 with a different lens... Keep both of them ready to shoot and grab whichever one fits the distance to subject... I agree that one day when the EVF lag, refresh rates, resolution, blackout, rolling shutter issues, and camera lock ups all get squared away, there will be a full takeover by mirrorless cameras... I would say that the professional sports/wildlife/photojournalism market will be the last one to go... I personally have a shooting style that is one of the least demanding as far as gear goes... I'd be totally happy with a huge OVF with manual focus and no batteries to worry about!!! Thanks for the insight!

The Z first mirrorless attempt is far better then the first versions of other brands, if only people would do the research , what quality do i get, for what price : The new Z glass is at the top. Google the MFT charts of the S-line lenses , compare them with the 2x or even 3x more expensive Canon RF or Zeiss Otis and be suppriced. See Zeiss Otis 28mm f1.4 in the comments->www.cameralabs.com/nikon-z-24mm-f1-8-s-review/ MTF chart : RF 50mm f1.2 VS Z50mm f1.8S, 2350 Euro vs 650 Euro, the Nikon is sharper at the edges, Nikon needs some love! Z6+Z7 one of the best sensors on the market in noise/DR levels. . www.dxomark.com/lenses/ -> tick the boxes "Z" and "RF" , compare price and resolving power and for what price

I think Nikon did a good job with the first offerings of the Z cameras and I look forward to see what they did... They Z lenses seem impressive to me, but this equipment is not readily available to me here in Peru, so... Waiting! I think Nikon had a huge headstart working from cameras like the d850 and their experience building lenses like the Noct lens!! Great commentary, thanks bud!

I finally went back to clarify another comment and found that I did mention Nikons involvement with microscopes and "other imaging products".. I may have been a bit vague but definitely covered most of that here... I guess I didn't specifically say it was for the medical field... You can find that info at 01:58 in my video... Sorry it took me so long to check into it!
