Plymouth have sacked manager Ian Foster with just six games remaining in the Championship season. With Argyle in the midst of a relegation battle, will this prove to be a brave or stupid decision?

This was the inevitable outcome after the Bristol City game. I support the decision and I hope that Dewsnip & Nance can reinvigorate the team and keep us up. The decision to ignore Warnock’s offer of help is massive given the guy’s experience of saving clubs from relegation and Dewsnip has many questions to answer about the appointment of Foster in the first place. But for now, we will rally behind the team and give them all our support for these vital next 6 games.

Be sad to see them go down. Loved their attitude in the first part of the season before the new manager came in.. I know they conceded a lot, but they scored a lot too.

Such a shame Plymouth losing their manager to Stoke just for them to be mediocre anyway. I think if they had continued scoring like they were earlier in the season they would be safe

Although Stoke seems to be something of a manager's graveyard at present, Schumacher's decision to take the job is understandable. It's a bigger club than Plymouth (but not necessarily better). It's a shame Schumacher didn't stay with Argyle for at least one more season. Having worked so hard to win League 1 last season, it would be a shame for Argyle to go straight down.

I don't think people realise the potential of Argyle who at home for the last 18 months have sold out home capacity and if the ground was large enough would be in the top 8 home capacities in the Championship. Also took 40,00 to Wembley last season and regulary take more fans away than Stoke even though miles further to travel

Realistically, Argyle will be eying up Rotherham, QPR, Millwall and Stoke City for the points. QPR being the trickiest given their momentum. Leicester City have gotten over their recent slip, and will be a difficult one. Depending on where Hull City are come the end of the season, will most likely be hovering around the play offs. Also the other teams around the relegation zone have on paper tougher games ahead of them.

They were definitely going down with him, they might still go down, but this gives them a better chance in my opinion

As someone who has been going to Argyle games since I was a kid, Foster is one of the worst I’ve seen. That isn’t me being horrible about the guy as a person, but he lacks experience and you could see in the players a massive change in attitude that I’ve never seen before. We’re an odd club down here that needs someone highly-experienced to make up for how small we are compared to other clubs in the league. It’s also an issue when Foster just didn’t try to get to know us fans and get us involved which is unlike other head coaches. I don’t know how we will do realistically, but I love our team either way and recognise we’ve had an awful season full of hurdles.

💚⚽️💚Going to be a tough ask but if the players can recover their enthusiasm for the club we might just do it. This is what we need. Wins against Rotherham and QPR. Draws against Millwall and Hull. We won’t get anything from home to Leicester or away to Shuey’s Stoke. Will 8 points be enough? Not 100% sure on that💚⚽️💚. The board has done the right thing because if we’d kept him and survived we’d be rock bottom next year with a poorer squad. 💚⚽️💚

He had to go, they couldn't have given him any more time. It shows the gulf between coaching England's U21s & the reality of Championship football, he was miles out of his depth. It was getting toxic for him at Home Park & it was getting worse each week. The football was just too negative!

1 game at a time in this crazy season. We could send Rotherham down and they made our home game against them a very bruising one so are playing for there lives even though they looked doomed. Hopefully see your next round up with us 3 points better off. 💚

I'm having to reassess everything about my club (Argyle) and the concept of having a sustainable, professional football club is raising questions, can gambling, which is what professional football is all about, actually be run sustainably? I'll return to this at the end of the season!

I'm glad the prison officer is gone some of the stories maybe not all true is shocking! If we are relegated or even stayed up under foster the mass exodus in the summer the team would be unrecognisable obviously some will leave if we are relegated. Hopefully now we have a better chance no matter what league we find ourselves in even if we lose one or two players that is better than losing 7 or 8. I've never seen so many smiles after his sacking. Still 18 points to play for and i really do think we will get over the line. The fact is i think the board and the owners will do better in the next appointment and will probably take a lot more time and research into it.

foster wasn't good enough for the job.interveiws with some of the players gave clues as to the relationship between players and fans alike.dewsnip admits that he was mainly at fault for the appointment.losing 7 players didn't help but the results clearly showed that the style of football didn't suit the players.eventually the atmosphere got to toxic in the ground and the board took action.dewsnip and nancekivell will steady the until the end of the season.

Had to go. Just didn't fit in with his attitude and tactics. Sam the attacks on his touchline mannerisms was because he had no clue on game management. Bristol made 3 substitutions at half time and Foster did nothing.

If it wasn’t for Fosters lousy record they would probably be safe. It’s up to the Directors to make the right choices and they didn’t.

I have to be honest, madness not to give it to Warnock in their position. As a Birmingham fan I am happy they chose not too... Be interesting to see if players cast aside like Dan Scarr come straight back into the team for Plymouth, lots of rumours of a falling out with Scarr and Foster
@clivephilpott3911
@clivephilpott3911 Ай бұрын
Not only Scarr. Add Whittaker, Wright, Cooper, Hardie plus others. The wives were very vocal on social media. His downfall started when he stopped the players signing autographs and talking to the fans. There was no way back from there. That's why it turned toxic very quickly.

Also, Neil and Dews don't see i to i. Listen to Dews in his report to the press about Warnocks brother in Aberdeen having a view. Very interesting reading between the lines.

Also another player not mentioned is Houghton. Although Houghton got plenty of play time, it was reported at one of the away games (can't remember which) Houghton refused to shake Foster's hand.

This was a disastrous appointment. The board are right to sack this clown - particularly if only half the stories emerging from the club are true. He was loathed by the players and had already lost their respect. Whilst walking away with a million quid pay off, he leaves us in deep trouble. Given Dewsnip's record when last he was in temporary charge, its by no means clear we can find enough points to stay up. So, this time next month we'll be back in League 1, Ryan, Morgan and Mike Cooper will be off and we'll have no manager. I fear for our future. All of this is down to Schumacher. I hope karma finds that pig out.
